The Three reasons why we Didn't Get Promoted

The wrong starting 11 was chosen for the 1st leg. They were flat and not motivated. The 2nd half they came more into it the playoff was thrown a lifeline with Berge scoring. The 2nd leg the players got together and showed what they can do when their heads are into it. They put in an incredible performance they showed they were the better side and deserving to win if not for pens. So close and we know if Billy was on the end of the bench he would have scored the vital 1st penalty.

I just dont think we’ve played well enough, often enough tbh. We’ve probably only taken a game by the scruff of the neck and asserted our dominance about 5 or 6 times this season.

We can bemoan injuries, which admittedly are a factor, but some of our better performances have come right at the end of the season.

If we were any good away from home we might have been in with a shout of automatics, which doesnt really say much for Bournemouth going into the Prem next year.

I still maintain that the poor quality of the rest of the division has probably elevated our position somewhat. Of course, you can only beat whats in front of you but for every Middlesbrough/Fulham/second half QPR performance, theres been a Stoke/Millwall/Reading performance.

Ultimately, those Middlesbrough type performances have been the anomalies this season rather than the norm. Thats not necessarily to say we’ve been as bad as the Stoke/Millwall performances in every other game but a team going for promotion really has to produce better performances than we have a lot more often.

At the end of the day, we had no right to be in the play-offs given the start we had and we’ve done well to get there in the first place.

The real reasons.

The players thought they weren't good enough after being repeatedly told so by their former manager.

Jokanovic couldn't bring them out of the Wilder depression. Good manager but not for stuff like that.

Hecky did what Jokanovic couldn't do and got them believing again but it wasn't soon enough to make a push for automatic (we'll never win the play offs).

The Three reasons why we Didn't Get Promoted according to my pig of a brother in law

We are not the best team in the championship
We are not the best team in Yorkshire
We are not even the best team in Sheffield
So if Sheffield FC are miraculously better than us, that makes the Wendies third best in the City.

Then again Hallam, Middlewood Rovers, Norton Oaks and Stocksbridge Park Steel are also probably better than the Wendies, so that puts them 7th best in the city! 🥳

We didn’t stop Forest’s three goals.

Fulham are the best team in the Championship
In theory Leeds are the best team in Yorkshire.
We are the best team in Sheffield.

To do a 3 point review for them lot.

They aren't the best team in L1.
They aren't the best yorkshire team in L1.
They are not the best team in Sheffield.

A highly persuasive and deeply perceptive set of conclusions , but only by the standards of the average Grunter .

Can I take it that you asked him to explain why they also failed to get promoted and that his reasons were equally insightful ?

Or were they more on the lines of “ Every fucking ref in every fucking game we played was bent , apart from the ones we won “?

The real reasons:

  • No strikers
  • Injuries leaving us with no squad depth

It's interesting about about the depth of he squad. I don't think any other club in the championship could have had the number of injuries that we did and still put out a competitive team each week. Even after all of the injuries, our bench yesterday contained: An international keeper, a 27 year old Liverpool player, a utility man with 37 Premier League starts in the previous two seasons, another midfielder with 31 Premier League starts in the previous two seasons, a Croatian international, a striker we've reputedly been offered £5m for and a Danish U19 striker. I'm not saying that's an amazing array, but it's way better than other teams would manage with an equivalent injury list to ours. Investing in more squad players (for 'depth') next season is definitely not what we need. The priority is making sure that we have one or two players that are capable of magic.

If Samba had been wearing boots with slightly shorter studs then the tie would not have gone to penalties and we'd be going to Wembley.

100%...consistency got us up 3 years ago, lack of showed why we didn't this year. The 3 Amigos should turn that around next year and promotion is soon..u.ni.ted

One reason for why you didn’t get promoted & the same why you got relegated last season

Patrick Roberts …fkg love the guy 👍

Now fuck off back to S6 you deluded 🔔🔚

There's only one reason were here in the first place, spending £120 million on shit and paying them wages that fall into our wage structure, instead of spending much less, buying foreign players and paying them Premier League wages

1. BILLY SHARP INJURED

2. RHIAN BREWSTER INJURED

3. JOC INJURED
