The team that got promoted

All three promoted teams are going down this season imo

We look so easy to beat now. I understand that we are inferior in quality to pretty much every other team in the division but at least we can make ourselves difficult to break down - how many shots have we faced this season?! Feels like we’re being cut open and facing a shot every couple of minutes!

Where are ya? Are we really just that bad? Every game in the PL it's like waiting for the opposition to score.

One plus, blades in good voice at Fulham and had a good beer ⚔️🍻👍

UTB as always.

I said at the time (and old Pompey would often refer to it and got a slating for being negative) that we were generally average last season.
Our tactic was so over reliant on N'Diaye producing some magic and to a degree McAtee too.
We were excellent at parking the bus where Championship level teams could never break us down.
It was rarely pretty but very efficient grinding out wins.

To be honest last season our finances were so serious that promotion was a must "at any cost".

91 points in the Championship last season but look like they’ve won a raffle prize to play in the Premier League.

The gap between the two divisions now is frightening.

Wonder if financially they can do something to reduce the gap between the two leagues
Burnley spent £100m this summer and still look like they'll be going down with us

THIS

When you get promoted you need to keep the best of what you had AND strengthen considerably to compete.

It's not frightening at all, it's just a different type of football.

Every single team (Fulham, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest) from the season before last season stayed up.
Also of the teams that have come down last season....only Leicester look like going back up.

Think a massive factor to consider is that
Every single season, almost every promoted team is able to compete in the PL, this will happen in the future too.
So why aren't we even competing? At present we're nearer to league 1 standard instead of Championship standard and it's not acceptable.

I appreciate what you're saying but my point was about this season. I'd argue that the three teams that went down are better than the three that came up.

Last season's newly promoted teams have more spending power than us and invested heavily. In the week, someone pointed out to me that this time last season, Forest were bottom but had 9 points. We have one.

Why aren't we even competing? Well right now that has to lie with the manager and coaching staff for me. The manner of the performances is embarrassing and we look increasingly out of depth every game.

Bournemouth were brave enough to sack Parker early on and it paid off. Whilst I don't expect another manager to keep us up, surely someone could come in and give us half a chance, or at least improve on what we're seeing right now.

Let's not pretend that there weren't problems last season because there were. The problem is that many fans chose to ignore them because "we were winning" and anyone saying anything negative got shot down as bed wetters and told to stop being negative.

When we went 8 games without a win and allowed Boro to close the gap on us the signs were there that Hecky had no plan B and didn't know how to stop the rot. His subs were often too later and nearly always completely baffling. In the end we started to grind out ugly wins which happened just as Boro dropped their form. In those 8 matches Hecky showed us what we've seen this season, that he was tactically stubborn, clueless and incapable of making positive changes.

Not it's not defendable. The results are as much on him as they are the players and we can't keep approaching every game the same way and hoping that lady luck will blow us a kiss.

We have an international break to get rid, bring someone else in and give them a bit of time to work with the players to try to stop the rot and address some of the problems, some of which aren't too difficult like passing a football to a team mate, or making runs into space off the ball for a team mate to pass into.

Hecky won't change his approach to matches and won't change his set up and tactics, so giving him two weeks with the players over an international break will achieve nothing. The last one achieved nothing other than worse performances.

Get rid.

Today's squad is not a patch on the one that was promoted simple as that, sell your best two players and replace them with inferior players and this is what happens. What made it worse is our two best midfielders ended their loans spells the day we were promoted we should have paid what City wanted and got Doyle in he is way better than what we did get in the summer. Being unable to strengthen the squad last January hurt us too that and a lot of our better players were the wrong side of 30, you could say the perfect storm was brewing and now it has hit home.

Ndiaye coveted over the cracks even with an old worn out system he dragged wins out along with Doyle and McAtee once they came in we started piling on points to promotion.Nduaye left and Doyle was not persued many thought old Norwood and Fleck would be good enough to step up against bigger faster PL opposition .We are were we are and the manager has no ideas how to change it ,the players confidence has been damaged
