It must be his pace.....

Though to be fair he was quoting Chris Basham.

“The reason I mention Bale is just how smooth he (Brooks) is as a player and how comfortable he is with either his right or left foot,”

Someone's just had a bollocking, it took them 15 minutes to change the photo though.

I’ve likened the directness of his play to Bale’s – I don’t think that’s a particularly revolutionary view either. But then I’m not constantly waiting for The Star’s latest article to jump on it no matter what, so perhaps I’m in the minority...

Agree, totally.

And the thing is, it keeps happening, time and time again. I still remember the King Charles Spaniel with a caption below that referred to Kieron Freeman! I mean, this isn't just a case of mistaken identity, it's total incompetence, but it is obvious there are inadequate editorial checks.

Be fair to James Shield, putting up the wrong photo won't be his doing.

Would it be too much to expect someone to just check? It's hardly a big job, and there are all those Blades working there........

It seems to happen with articles about United. Maybe it's just incompetence, maybe it's not. Do these things ever get put right before they are referenced on here ?

I suppose if you were really desperate for a few hundred clicks at £0.001 each, you might deliberatelyu get it wrong knowing they'd be a post on here and plenty would click through.

That would suggest a Machivelian genius at work though, so I prefer the incompetence theory.

If a tree falls in a wood, do the Star do a major article about it and how much mess was left on the verge afterwards?

If there was a story about a tree falling, Blades hooligans would be to blame. It would have been diseased as well as falling on a basket of abandoned Coventry supporting orphaned kittens, all suffering kidney damage and covered in spittle.

I used to work in a local news room in the late 1990s / early 2000s*. I'd go out to sports events with a photographer and tell him who I wanted pics of. He'd email me the pics, I'd caption them and send them on for editing and layout. But you could almost guarantee that they would still use the wrong pic or wrong caption, and my articles were edited in such way that they were (even) crapper. I ended up insisting that they remove my by-line from everything I wrote.

*Not The Star

Todays SPAR article re- the possibility of the Porkers getting into the play offs is funny though.

Totally plausible if you are massively deluded.

The one that quotes Jack Hunt admitting they need a miracle (winning every game) to do so?
