The Star

I’m surprised that AI hasn’t taken over local news reporting, apart from the fact that it has no opinion, one way or the other.
We expect our sports journalism to concur mostly with our own views.
If I see a post on here that I disagree with, I will usually scroll on down to the next comment. This site has pointed me to some interesting comment and opinion, which is of value because of its honesty, but still leans a bit towards being a positive blades supporter.
We do like to have our opinions confirmed by others. 😊

The Star has a history of plagiarism, if you want to pay for reading content stolen from other papers, and Facebook groups be my guest, paying £30 a year for online access you must be crazy..

They used to have a showbiz section in the paper every day called John Highfields "buzz" this whole section was copied from the suns showbiz column literally word for word...

You could put the Sun next to the Star open them on the same page and there they were, same text word for word, pinched.

It's like a tramp stood in an underpass asking perfect strangers if they want to buy his shitted underpants for a tenner so he can sort himself with some Special Brews.

Not going to be many takers I'm afraid.
Read this. Laughed a lot.
Read the rest of the thread then came to this to give myself another good chuckle.
Occasionally between the vitriol, bickering and know all comments that dominate this site there are some absolute gems.

The star seems to be very poor generally compared to the Manchester evening news. The men has live news and traffic and also some in depth reporting. The star seems to consist of stuff rehashed from social media with no actual quotes attributed. I don't know who would pay for their "exclusive" content. What stories have they broken that weren't already in the public arena.
“These are the 20 most expensive streets in Sheffield” - same street appears 4 times

“Sheffield’s nightclubs of the 1990s” - 30 images, only 8 unique images.

“Police raid property in Fir Valle... more to follow shortly”

I’m all for good local journalism, but the Star isn’t good. The articles have barely any (if any) insight and as you say, the news is rarely actually ‘news’, as people have known about it for 2 days.

It's taken me a while to click onto this thread, as I was expecting it to just be full of shit..........

80p a fag.
When I was at school me and my mates walked home and 2 of them always called in at the corner shop.
Fag& a match for 1d, they went apeshit when they went to 1 new pence. Imagine what they'd say to 80p a fag; and no match.
How much are they for 20?.

here :(

If only l hadn’t spent my five free shots reading about what the days three main meals should be called l could have read the full article.

Whoa, hold on. After reading the original article and posting at 2.23 it seems there was an update at 2.20 which COULD :) have contained further information. The original article showed percentage likelihoods and certainly didn’t start off with 24th place.

I think we’ve been down this route before.

Don't use double quote marks inside double quote marks. :)

You’re the wordsmith not me Danny. Thanks though.

What did you update at 2.20?

Oh, l’ve edited it before your colleagues are all over it in the highly unlikely event of it making Twitter or Facebook, or anyone else but you giving a toss.

Just added a couple of links. Nowt major. Thanks for reading though. Do you agree with the prediction? Remarkable how Forest have turned it around. They were predicted to finish ninth a few weeks back. Wouldn't bet against them getting 2nd with momentum behind them (and games in hand)

Needs a space before 'once' though. ;)

I can see Forest finishing 2nd. Us, hopefully just getting into the play offs.

I see you’ve got a sub on the job.

All good fun. At least it's in our hands. Which is either comforting or dangerous, depending on your outlook. I see it as the latter ...
