Short reply:- I'd rather he didn't.

I know we have been a bit over critical about but seriously other than at MK Cons in the cup, what has he done for us?.

Surely you can't change a side that just ran out 4-1 winners in the last game? I mean what must anyone who played on Tuesday think if they are suddenly.dropped for Higdon? Who do you change for Higdon?

If they play Higdon up top on his own they might as well not bother with a striker, thinking about it that might be another of Cloughy's option for Saturday.

They might just get something out of Higdon if he was in a two up front, perhaps with Done.

I did think about that but then who do you drop mate? Baxter would be the most feasible choice would it not but he played half decent the other night and hit the back of the net. Just seems a bit harsh to swap and change on the back of that.

Would I drop Baxter for Higdon? Definitely not, but would consider as a plan B option from the bench.

James Shield must be struggling for a story. He reminds me of Shipperley in his physique, who worked well coming off the bench late but I think 4-4-2 would suit Higdon more with Done off him.

Higdon is certainly not a starter at the moment and with our current squad he probably wouldn't be on the bench for me either.

Che Adams would not have bagged a brace vs Spurs without the presence of Higdon occupying the two main CH that evening. Higdon contributed greatly to the space that Adams took full advantage of. Contrast that to when Che was on from the start vs Gillingham with just Murphy as the central striker - very little to show for it.

If deployed correctly and if supported closer by the midfield, Higdon is an asset to us. He needs much better service and also some decent crosses to bury from a header but if he is the only man in there with 4 or 5 defenders around him, with no midfield runner taking players away from marking the space he could run into, then it will be fruitless.

I see the strengths you have pointed out however he has been too hit and miss and we really need consistency now at the business end of the season. I would be interested in seeing Higdon and Done definitely but I would also be interested in seeing McNulty and Done. This begs the question though would Clough play 4-4-2?.

I can see Clough going 4-4-2 with Higdon replacing JCR and Coutts starting wide right. I would like to see that!

I'd be happier if it said he'd return TO city. I don't even care which city.

I thought the same . However i think we now ought to give Higdon a chance and get off his back . He plays for us not the opposition. It could be that Done is not only good for the blades , but good for Higdon too. The guy has not always had the right service or players , reading out of the same book as each other , which has made him look poor .. It would be a real boost if Higdon becomes the CF we have been looking for , being paired up front with Done . No doubt they have tried the pairing in training , and if so lets hope it works. Saturdays game becomes another final for us , like all the remaining matches. IMO its good we are out of the cups , now we are in the business end of the season , no excuses.

According to the OS., Done is carrying an injury and is doubtful

I dont subscribe to knocking Higdon hes suffered some right kickings in this league and been injured a lot , but he does offer us good hold up play and offers one thing we are short of ...........height

I think we would all like him to change from villain to hero .

This theory of "you can't change a winning side" should always be taken with a pinch of salt. The side we put out v Colchester allowed for us to get at least 3 players forward as often as possible, against City, we probably won't get the same level of chances. We're also away from home and home sides in the form that Bristol City are in will be a very different prospect to Colchester United.

Higdon, i'm surprised nobody mentioned, had a very good game against Bristol City on the opening day. I felt we lumped the ball into the box a lot more which didn't often work, but Higdon caused them a few problems. Even on that day we were out of sorts and looked well behind, fitness wise in particular.

Higdon, with two wide lads playing off him when we get the breaks will give them plenty to worry about.

I'd personally be more concerned about the 5 we'll play in midfield though. We need to overrun them in midfield.

I hope Done is fit to play, but I think Higdon's improved determination the last few games should be recognised. Hopefully he'll build on that and take his chance when he gets it.

Higdon certainly 'tried' against Swindon and was taken off before being sent off. At Chesterfield he arguablty cost us the game with his stupidity. If we want a start/stop game down there to put them out of their stride play Higdon and hope it works and he doesn't have a sugar rush.

The alternative is to tell the team they are playing a premiership team away and keep it tight and boring with the hope of nicking a goal on the break / towards the end and not conceding.

Neither approach fills me with much optimism.
What I'd really like is for us to go out, be positive from the start play high tempo football and beat them at their own game,.............. leaving Higdon on the bench i case we need him.

Hmm a draw would be a good result.
