Six months since the Wembley defeat, one of the low points supporting United. It's taken some time to get over it, yesterday was the first time we've had something to celebrate since. Hopefully we can now kick on and finally put that miserable day behind us!

That miserable day will only be behind me when we are back in the PL

It is often the case that Play-off losers have a very poor few months months in the early part of the following season.

The OP makes a good point. The hangover was very real. And this was the first proper joy the squad have experienced since. The first home and away wins were a relief more than anything celebratory.

Been mentioned by a few already, but if we can put in a good showing (and result) against Pompey, maybe the belief will properly surge through. It's felt a bit like every time we've got the tiniest bit of momentum this season we undo it all quickly afterwards.

Agreed. The PNE result was a good example. Go in 2-0 up, and I'm sure we win. The next few games would have been different then, too. Coventry, don't lose Cooper at half-time. Hull, score the penalty. Hang on for a 0-0 v CHarlton first game back for CW. So many nearly moments, time to double up and win in the week.

I'd hope the return of Hamer, Blaster and the arrival of Bamford has given them a lift as well.

Wilder did seem to imply that our strikers may have upped their levels a bit not just because of the derby match but because another striker has arrived at the club.

Beat Pompey in midweek and i think we will be getting back to our old selves and can see us winning games frequently again. There has definitely been a lot of feeling sorry for themselves by the players and looking beaten before half time in some games which is criminal considering the latent talent we have in the side. Selles the clown was totally incompetent and contributed massively to a lack of confidence, team not knowing what they were doing, and lack of fitness, and its taken up to now for Wilders methods to be imgrained into them again. I was really pleased that the derby was after the latest international break as it gave them another 2 weeks on the training ground working hard together. I felt we needed that still and that we could look a different team from now on. Hoping the worst is now over and we have a very successful (results wise) remaining season ahead, especially when we get to January ans wheel and deal and get some out the door.

Season started yesterday.

Follow it up with a win v Portsmouth and hard fought draw against Leicester.

Wouldn’t surprise me if we pick up 4 points from those 2 games.

Also I was talking to my Wednedayite brother yesterday and he agreed with me….thats there’s a lot of half decent teams in the Championship but no outstanding teams apart from possibly Coventry.

He said he thinks it will be a record low points for the play-offs and said if United get their act together they are capable of pulling off 7 or 8 consecutive wins….he still thinks we have a realistic chance of finishing in the play-offs.

Agree…..being honest don’t think our performances or style of play has been that much different to last season.
Last season we had good spells of controlling games with possession but we didn’t create many chances but we’re pretty ruthless and our defence was excellent at parking the bus and battling out narrow wins.

This season we again have decent control of games and like last season don’t create that much but we’ve lost our scoring touch.
Also the defence doesn’t like being caught on the break and lacks confidence.

Think we only need to increase our levels by 10% and we’ll get back to winning almost every game 1-0 and 2-1 again.

I often see Wembley stadium and every time I do I have a physical shudder since May. I try to avert my eyes as much as possible!
I get the train from Manchester to London regularly. I aways sit at a window facing the other way and enjoy views of the Ace Cafe ! My better half ( Citeh ST holder ) loves the place . How can you if you’re a blade 😤it’s cursed

The last two times I was at Wembley Stadium were both great occasions.
Mind you I was there to watch Billy Joel each time.
