If the game against Forest wasn't enough to convince the Prince to get behind Nigel during the summer wheeling and dealing, then today will have shown him what Bramall Lane can be like when it's packed. Over 30,000, who'd have thunk it earlier this season?

I couldn't get to the match today, I watched the game on my laptop though, and to see that stadium of ours filled was wonderful. If the Prince doesn't back Cloughie then it's a lost opportunity. We can't afford to reflect on what we've achieved, we need to strengthen, and Clough has shown that he's got a first rate eye for a player, so lots to do, and I hope the Prince backs Clough to the hilt. A great display today, and the whole team should be proud of what they've achieved.....so far. UTB

has he been to any games lately the owner.

I think hes only been to 2-3 matches?

Would have been nice to seen him today but i suppose he didnt want the focus to be taken away from our superb team & manager.

What a turn around!

yes the prince should back clough in the summer, infact he should start right now, offering brayford and coady money to come join us in the summer, saying that the cup run and of course a bumper payday at Wembley may just make the question superfluous we may just make enough to encourage a few signings with that alone.
But it wold be nice if clough was told now he had a BIG war chest so he could start offering those 2 and others "incentives" to ask to come here, tho I heard somewhere coady is out of contract with Liverpool in june so a minimal "trainers fee" may be all Liverpool will need, anyone correct me on this?

That question's been posed a few times mate, and from what I've read it seems Coady will be contracted to L'pool for at least another year, but who knows? The two you mentioned would be lovely additions as permanent signings, as would two quality strikers, but I love Clough's ability to judge a player. As a squad player Davies would be useful too.

I'm quite sure he knows that mate. The admirable Jim Phipps has spoken of 'full support' and a 'generous budget'.

I may be naive but this has a fresh feel about it. I think our club means business this time. We shall see, and I for one, can't wait!

Read that Brendan Rogers is to be given a £60 million war chest, his focus might drift away from young talent.

Who knows mate? Clubs like L'pool have a completely different set of criteria to ourselves. I hope something can be worked out, but who knows what the lad himself wants to happen? I read an interview with CC in a Liverpool newspaper and the emphasis from his comments seemed fairly and squarely on using this experience with us to sharpen his game so that he increases his chances of becoming a player that L'pool would want to figure more prominently in their plans. As with Brayford, these are two players who I assume most fans would love us to sign on permanent deals, but there are a number of hurdles still to jump before we can give any of this serious thought. Despite the "We'll wait until the end of the season before we talk to their current clubs" line that we keep hearing, it wouldn't surprise me if discussions had already begun to investigate whether there's light at the end of this particular tunnel.

Couple of articles from the Liverpool website re Coady:

Ah, that must have been the source for the article I read. It would seem that CC's focus is on improving himself with a view to furthering his career with Liverpool, can't blame the lad, so not holding my breath expecting us to sign him.

Thing is, Conor wouldn't even be 'warming the bench' at Liverpool. As it stands, Liverpool have an incredibly strong squad without this £60m 'war chest'. I expect him to become one of those outstanding young English players - Frazier Campbell etc. - who are too easily discarded to make way for the 'technically superior' foreigners. Probably not staying with us but forging a good career with one of the 'bigger' clubs.

Back to the Prince, we were talking yesterday about him splashing the cash in summer, but I can't see the point. This team - with a few minor tweaks - is set for an extremely bright future. A striker and further cover for injuries/departures are the focus. We'll wait a year before going for RVP!

Don't care if he doesn't come to a game, he isn't a blade he just co-owns the club. Looking at where bladey bladey blades has gotten us in the past I would just be happy for Clough to get a reasonable amount of money to secure the services of Brayford and whatever reasonable new signings he feels he needs. The turnaround in our fortunes with many of the same players that were being lambasted as useless should prove if nothing else that Clough is an exceptional manager who deserves the full backing of the board.

I'm assuming we may get Conor back on loan next season for a promotion push but don't underestimate Rodgers reliance on youth. If he thinks he is good enough he will make sure Liverpool keep him. He is another exceptional manager who won't let good players go.

Just great to be talking about positives and looking upward rather than into a pit of despair and League 2.
