I’ve been lurking on the S2 forum for a while and on Bladesmad before that. I am a long-standing (sitting) season ticket holder in the South Stand, and my memories of The Blades go back to the golden years of the early 70s.
However I wanted to share an angst that I experienced recently for the first time when I came to renew my ST. After the success we have finally enjoyed in recent seasons, a voice was whispering in my ear, why renew the ST. This is as good as it gets, do you really want to see us struggling in the Prem. In the end I trusted in Wilder, and was swayed by the club holding prices stable.
What I would like to know is am I the only one to have experienced this crisis of faith and if so where should I seek help?

Can't recommend anywhere, but you do need to seek help!

You must be, surely.

Anybody that stops going after a promotion really needs to give their head a wobble. Bit like some fans that were saying last year that they wouldn't mind if we missed out on promotion as they'd rather watch us win more games than struggle in the league above. Those are the kind that play computer games on the baby setting

Its called been a football fan gotta take the highs with the lows

Not many teams that have had as many highs and lows as us

How many teams have had as many play off league/fa cup semi finals as us and days out at wembley.
How many teams have been in league one for 5 years and gone straighT through to the prem

It aint boring been a blade and if we do get relegated so what

Afternoon,

Think you need to review your position that this is as good as it gets. Of course we'll play better quality teams, but under CW and AK we'll learn, develop, and progress, and that is the stuff of (football) life. We'll see the club sign better players, no longer scraping the barrel for players at £500K. There will be improvements to the ground and training facilities, so whether you re-new your ST, well that has to be your shout, but it would be a shame if you didn't embrace this part of the journey mate. UTMB!

Its a losers game bud, the euphoria of winning is made all the better if it follows a loss. If we were like the Mancs, winning everything, then we would never have the satisfaction of triumph after the depths of the 4th division.

Yes I know, I know. Think of it as an addiction. I’ve seen all the lows, and now finally here we are in the sunlit uplands. I want to enjoy it and have succumbed to my future fix by buying the season ticket. But yet I have this worry deep inside that this is as good as it gets and it might all go horribly wrong again

In Wilder I trust

Go and watch the filth for a few games mate :eek:If that doesn't restore your faith, you're toast :D and beyond redemption.

Come on now. There are limits !!
Then thank your lucky stars you have standards:D Like John Egan said "We're on a fuckin journey"............... It's only just begun mate. Enjoy these exciting times.

Given I've watched us struggle at a much worse level of football and still renewed, no, this hasn't been a question for me.

Next season we get to watch the nation's champions, both Champions League finalists, and a number of the best players in the world. And we don't get to play their second team because we've drawn them in an early cup round. We get to play them because we've earned a shot at the fight.

I have never been more certain that I want a season ticket.

As some have already said pain of being a blades fan has often been horrendous...and most will have suffered more pain than joy...but the last 3 seasons never has the club and fans been more together, in my lifetime anyway, we have a sense of optimism.
so just sit back, strap in open a tinnie and put thi headphones on at match, to listen to keef saying...."what a goal by Freeman and what a move by united....".

"It's gonna be one hell of a ride".

What’s the worst that can happen? We get relegated. So what? The championship is a decent league with good coverage and we’ll not have to worry about finances for at least two seasons. I’ve seen us relegated loads of times. It was shit, I got over it.

It's the irrational fear or realisation of failure and of the unknown.

There's also the fear of United being humiliated, for all the world to see. That's a possibility, but that's also a possibility at any level.

One of my least enjoyed seasons was with Warnock last time.

We weren't good enough, we didnt invest enough that summer, we were cheated by Scudamore, we were abused by referees regularly, every game was tense and draining. There were highs but rare compared to the stress of the lows. The media didn't like us, referees had it in for us and then to top it off we had Mike Dean for that last match. Down on goal difference to a very poor Wigan side while West Ham were helped along by refs, Man Utd , an 'eminent' judge from some Fantasy chuffing East End Charity and Scudamore.

Living hell. Then we gave our cash bonanza to Robson to spend followed by Blackwell to ruin.

Maybe Superjags, it can never be as bad again!!!!

Simple answer is mate, have faith. United didn’t fluke into the Prem we did it in style. We’ll not take much off the top 6 but will compete with the rest. Andy Hinchcliffe remarked on Sky tv last season that we are a better team than many in the Prem, and we improved as the season went on

A cynic would read this

Some of you are acting all Billy Big Bollocks thinking you’re certs for top half and no fear of relegation. Clubs in the Premier are spending huge amounts just to stand still. It may work out and you could stay up with your “budget” but as you know you could just as easily come crashing back down. 10 points clear last time and it wasn’t enough, some humility wouldn’t go amiss as you’d look prize plums if you did come back down. Imagine if we swapped places after all the bragging that’s being chucked about...

and think ‘we know that’s not true, no one is thinking we’re certs for top half and have no fear of relegation. TKPig got roundly criticised for lying and it would really help his ‘cause’ if he could get us to say ‘we’ll be fine, no chance of going down’.

Good job I’m not a cynic.

Not forgetting the opening match when Gerard went past Morgan, shot , missed, only for a penalty given for intent

Mate if you can’t enjoy the highs and grab them with both hands after all the shite we’ve had then I despair for you.

Strap yourself in bud and enjoy the good times 🤣 🤣 🤣

Ps Your not a 🐖 are you?;)

PPS Only joking.......:cool::cool:

The last PL adventure, we were relegated.
No excuses as regards referees, ther media (they certainly didn't relegate us), Carlos Tevez didn't relegate us, making excuses for our own frailties, leave it out.
Cheated by Scudamore?

Insanity.

What were the ''excuses'' for our relegation to League One?
Same applies to the six years spent there, why didn't we gain promotion, until 2017?
Why not make excuses up now, just in case we get relegated next May?

We weren't good enough. Our last relegation from the PL was all our own doing.
As soon as supporters stop with the nonsense of a blame mentality and accept that at times, it wasn't anyone's issue except for ours.

Worry ye not , SJ .

If things go to plan in the transfer window , and I believe that by and large they will , we will be better equipped to face the Prem next season than quite a few of the clubs that are already in it .

Yes , there are a few big dogs in there but there are also a number of very ordinary sides with suspect defences who will find it very difficult to cope with our approach .

Even if we go down , which I very much doubt , at least we will have been spared the ignominy of suffering defeat at the hands of the likes of Crewe , Rochdale etc. as happened in the dark years .

Personally , I'm looking forward to next season with as much anticipation as I have for many long years and can't wait for it to get started .

Bringemon , Bringemallon as as certain poster might have put it .
:)

I bet your diamond shoes are too tight as well. 😪

My fondest memories of United as a child (sounds like a Bjork song), we were playing top sides each week and almost always expecting to lose.
Oh but when we upset the applecart, those were the greatest of days. The excitement it brought, the outrage of the oppositions fans and the delight and noise of the fans around me. Maybe nostalgia, but that’s what I’m looking forward to most this season and I can’t wait.
