Foderingham
A figure of ridicule at almost every club he’s been at.

Lowe
Ushered out the door quicker than he came through it.

Stevens
A player who came up through the divisions as part of the journey. No longer up to it.

Egan
The only fit centre-half left from the Wilder era. A shadow of himself without O’Connell.

Robinson
Abysmal.

Bogle
A bog-standard Championship right-back who clearly isn’t up to it this season.

Baldock
Again, part of the journey. But just loves to complicate everything he does and a headless chicken in the opposition half.

O’Connell
Played through injury - one which could possibly end his career. No sign of being close to a return.

Basham
The only one who can still hold his head high. But without time on his side.

Osborn
Jack of all trades. Master of none.

Norwood
The most ‘confidence player’ I’ve ever seen. Awful without it. Lacks a midfield presence EVERY midfielder should have.

Fleck
Absolutely no idea what’s happened to him but he’s dog shit.

Freeman
What an outstanding £4m capture that was.

Berge
A £20m superstar who can’t stay fit but is a really nice lad, apparently.

Brewster
A £20m striker who couldn’t score in a brothel.

McBurnie
A £20m striker who looks like he won a competition.

Mousset
A £10m striker who can’t get close to 10 games without injury.

McGoldrick
A star of the journey who Wilder got the best out of. Even at his best he was turd in front of goal. Now looks like the player Ipswich released but 5 years older.

Burke
Looks like he lost a competition and turned up anyway.

Sharp
A club legend who, like Basham, can hold his head high and still offerBut can’t be far off retiring.

That’s some legacy, Chrissy.

We weren’t 9th in the PL when he left - we were rock bottom, relegation-bound and one of the worst teams in PL history. Or do you get to choose when his legacy ended?
Ok, not that it makes much difference to the fantastic turnaround….

Arrived - 55th/ 92
Departed - 20th/ 92

Thats some legacy, Chrissy.

He left by the back door before it got any worse because he knew we were sinking like a stone due to the worst set of signings imaginable.

I can forgive him the mistakes. He's young and still learning. I just wish he stayed to pick up the pieces. Horrible seeing him and Knilly at boro they should still be here.

I'm sure there's some people here that would have preferred Wilder not getting us promoted and putting 200 million into the bank if it meant we didn't spend 10% of that on Brewster

I do love these threads, this signing is shit that signing is shit etc etc, I'm pretty sure none of the tosspots posting this stuff, did anything other than cum in their pants when Berge, Brewster, Freeman etc were signed

We can all whinge with hindsight

That's some apologia for Slav. In other news that's one of the best squads in the Championship (if not the best) on paper.

It would be one of the best squads in the Championship if this were 2019.

George Elek was going on about this on NTT20 today. Raving about our bench. What a good player Hourihane is. What a good player McBurnie is. How good Baldock is.

The retort to that is “not any more”.

Ally Maxwell disagreed, saying in effect that these players had lost what they had. That’s certainly the conclusion to draw if you actually watch them.

Oh, Jokanovic is not doing a good job. I agree.

But you keep peddling this line that this is a fantastic squad when the last 60 games under 3 different managers shows this simply isn’t true. The collapse in form of a number of players, irrespective of manager or formation, is obvious to the naked eye.

The Premier league games are not indicative of the adequacies/inadequacies of this squad. None of our players have proven premier league records, beyond a season at best. They should be doing much better in the Championship which is a gargantuan drop in quality. The reason why they aren't is obvious. If Warnock was given this squad (including six high cost additions and the emergence of Ndiaye by the way!) we'd be up by March.

I can't get on board with this notion that all our players are shit and that their proven records at the level count for nothing. I can get on board with the idea that some of the older players have declined, that's it. The management need to do much better.

11th in League One
9th in Premier League

That’s some legacy, Chrissy.

You completely missed the point with your kneejerk defence of the man.

That he took us to 9th in the Premier League from 11th in League 1 is indisputable.

Legacy is nothing to do with that journey, but how he set us up for life thereafter.

The reality is as the opening poster states.
He left us 20th in the PL, short on cash with a poorly assembled squad, attuned only to one way of playing... as a result, we're now at the bottom end of the division below. That is his legacy. Regardless of the fun ride before it.

His contribution to the history of the club is part of his legacy, the good and the bad. The posters use of the word is acceptable.
