Tony Currie actually got a 10/10(out of this world) by Daily Mirror and other national papers in our fa-cup homewin vs Bristol City in 75. The only mistake by TC during the match was a bad shot that ended up as a glorious pass for our second goal.

April 1975 TC v Stoke (h). Papers billed the match as Currie v Hudson with TC the clear winner, Waved at the crowd each time after going past 3 Stoke players on the left attacking the Kop End.
August 1978 Sabella v Preston (a). Ran the show and scored a brilliant individual goal. Paper reporter wrote "Sabella sells more dummies than Mothercare"
August 2002 Tonge v Millwall (h). Brilliant 2nd half. The ref (Jeff Winter) patted on his back after scoring a great goal

It depends how you define a '10/10' performance.

Some may be inclined to say it should be a perfect performance, ie. not a single step wrong, but I wouldn't agree.
It should be the same margin of difference as a 8/10 is to a 9/10, just one notch higher.

So, perfect or almost perfect. Making one misplaced pass but scoring 3, assisting 2 and making countless tackles, interceptions and key passes could/should still be a 10, in my view.

I would class it as an oustanding and exceptionally dominant man of the match performance vs quality opposition.

It may sound strange given the quality of performance we're used to seeing these days, but it may actually be rare to see a 10 during Wilders reign given the emphasis on teamwork over individual brilliance.

Brown had a few performances that may have reached this height during 02/03, and more recently, in addition to JOC vs Brentford, Clarke's 4 vs Hull may be a contender, at least for an attacking player.

Brown away at Portsmouth springs to mind as a potential that season. He was absolutely immense from start to finish and capped it with an injury time goal IIRC.

Interestingly, this brings up quite a few players who were not known for particularly outstanding contributions, but whom we hold dear in our hearts for the reason you named above!

Never going to happen.

My son is not good enough.

I watched him play for his junior school team last year and I was extremely disappointed. He scored but was weak in the tackle and selfish despite some nice touches. I gave him a 7 and I was being kind.

I can see why he's not a regular for his year 7 team this year.

All feedback is constructive isn't it?



O Connell and Clarke as 9.5 were the best 2 showings of the last two years though v Brentford and Hull I think from my reports.

The quest for 10 goes on!

Bit harsh on your son deadbat. I'm still hoping my lad will make the breakthrough with the Blades even though he is 32.
