The penalty incidents

Very marginal contact on Fleck and it certainly didn't warrant such theatrics,

You say that, but Baldock had one of the clearest fouls ever in the first half not given because he stayed on his feet.

Fleck was intelligent to draw the foul and go down.

Clarke's was more obviously a foul. Classic case of the ref not wanting to give two in the same game.

Fleck was contact but he made a meal of it.
Personally I wouldn’t give a penalty but by the letter of the law there was contact, so was a penalty.
The Sky pundits watched the video replay and all agreed there was some contact, so definitely a penalty.
Contact is allowed..the question is is it a foul..if so penalty...don't get conned by ex players who don't know is the laws..contact has fuck.all to do with it...

Very marginal contact on Fleck and it certainly didn't warrant such theatrics, but then again there was contact so I'm not sure. I do hope Wilder had a word in his ear after FT about diving though.

Yeah and told him to do it more often. Fuck the nicely nice approach any other player would have gone down in the same circumstances it’s called being professional not being naive. If he’d stayed on his feet & the chance fizzled out i’d have been well pissed off with him. He won us the game!

There really isn’t a discussion to be had, the challenge on Fleck was a penalty. It was good play by Fleck and the Leeds player tried to pull away but was already committed and caught him.

The one on Clarke was clear as day, you won’t see a more obvious penalty but the ref completely bottled it. A dreadful decision and one he didn’t want to give solely because he’d already given us a pen. Just imagine if Leeds had gone on to equalise after that.

There was contact on Fleck but he def over egged it , to balance things out I thought the challenge on Clarke was definitely one .
For once got a bit of luck on the Stevens handball , he moved his arm towards the ball then appeared to try and pull it back , it would have been soft but I’ve seen em given

For the Clarke incident, the ref thought the defender had played the ball, hence giving a corner.
The Leeds players were adamant it was a goal kick, hence they thought the ball hadn’t been played, therefore it must have been a penalty

Yep. I said exactly the same.

thought flecks penalty was a doppelganger of the one man utd got against us in the facup 2 years ago
minimum contact maximum inertia
yo use a man utd line ,,, there was contact

just seen wednesdays at barnsley , our s is stonewall by comparison

The Fleck challenge is a free kick everywhere else on the pitch, therefore penalty, it was a foul. Yes he went down “easily” but it’s a foul.

Not seen Leon’s back yet.

Watched the highlights and fleck went down easy but there was definite contact. Clarke's wasn't on there but I saw it well from the cop, the ref was just too scared to give us a second pen, there was no way it was a corner since Clarke had the last tough, it was a pen or a GK. If we hadn't had the first pen it would have been a simple decision for the ref, a shame that the rules are bent like that but that's just the way the refs play.

Clarkes was a penalty all day long, ref bottled giving us two. Simple as that.

Yep. I spent midweek berating the antics of the Spurs players to a Spurs-supporting mate of mine after the Liverpool game. Needless to say he’s been in touch after today’s game...

Watching the football on Channel Five, when it comes to diving cheats Norwich City are in a class of their own.

If your trailing leg is tripped you can try to run through it, stumble and carry on. If your leg is taken from the side you have no where to go, your other leg is in the way and your forward momentum hinders rather than helps you. The ball had gone, Fleck had his leg taken away and was going nowhere but down. I think the problem is that he saw it coming a fraction before it happened, so was already going down slightly before he would have done naturally, making it look a little like a dive. Nevertheless, a definite penalty.

Thought Clarke fouled the defender first personally. Also thought Stevens could have given away a pen in the first half for a clumsy challenge.

Fleck dived from the angle they showed on TV. I'd like to see it from the other side but O'Kane pulled out of the challenge and Fleck just went down and didn't make the biggest fuss of claiming it. He was never getting that ball.

You are mad. Fleck played the ball and was tackled. Foul. Penalty. He doesn’t need to be getting the ball.

I don’t know what’s wrong with your tv but there’s summat wrong wi it

On the TV Fleck looked like he dived and may well get thrown in front of that new diving retrospective panel. Clark’s trailing foot was caught but it would have been a soft decision.

It’s a difficult one for them to pass judgement on I think. It was a penalty imo but Fleck certainly made a meal of it in order to make sure the decision was given.

I've seen one given for intent in that same penalty box, so if it's good enough for Liverpool it's good enough for me.
He played the man not the ball, penalty every time for me.

Aren't we being a bit harsh on our team? Fleck's pen. was a bit soft but file under 'I've seen 'em given.' Clarke's? Nailed on. So Fleck should get 'thrown in front of that new diving retrospective panel'*? What about that cunt number 10 of their's (Alioski)? Was Sharp's a booking? No way. The ref. was shocking.

*That other nonce with the daft hairdo (Maddison of Norwich) would need his own armchair in front of that panel. Delli Alli and Saint Harry of Kane at Spurs?

Why can't we just take a win and move on? Will Wendy go on about their own soft penalty at Barnsley? The challenge on Baldock at Elland Road was worth a red card, but it wasn't given. It's football.

I said how stupid it was for the Leeds players to protest. If they convinced the ref that their man never touched the ball the alternative decision was penalty, not goal kick.

make your own mind up - the balls gone and Fleck couldn't continue through the Leeds players out stretched leg

UTB
This angle shows what I thought, that the foul was about to happen but Fleck started going down before contact. My initial reaction was dive, and it’s a tough call based on Fleck’s movements. As soon as the one on Clarke wasn’t given I stopped caring whether Fleck dived.

Baldock stayed on his feet all game and never got anything, and if he’d been clear on goal and simply stumbled he’d have got nowt. Fleck got caught and made sure the ref saw it. Penalty. Clarke’s looked like a Penalty but he didn’t really get touched until the ball went out and then tried to hook his foot into the defenders legs.

Weirdly in today’s football, Fleck did get tripped but could have stayed on his feet - you get nothing for that usually, whereas the Clarke one is more a case of the forward waiting to be touched by a defender or goalie - and they usually get given.

Been said loads of times - its a shame but you have to make sure the ref sees you flying in the air to get a decision - we booed that Wolves player who kept falling over, but unfortunately Baldock will need to learn to do the same if he wants free kicks in the PL
