That cunt commentating on Sky just said maybe come May United may think this was a very good point indeed.
How you fucking smarmy wanker??

Baldock and Duffy missed big time. Wilder should have listened to Blades pod. Glad it's over and we didn't lose.another 0-0 victory for Wednesday. We will have to do much better against leeds

I'm sorry wilder bottled it. Duffy for Dowel all day long..

Everyone said if they attacked us it would suit or counterattacking game. Result was they closed our possession down and we struggled to break through. A point is not the end of the world .

UTB.

Not enough belief in the first half, not enough quality in the second.

That point will be more use to us than them. A 0-0 win for us this time I reckon.

Wank, boring rubbish yet again.

Terrible game of football and another shocking advert for the Sheffield derby.

Three 0-0-s in a row is just bizarre.

But we can play better than that .that's the big disappointment.

Harsh on Cranie given his performances, the clean sheets and what he has said previously about keeping his place on merit.

He's a lot less rash than Bash which could have been a benefit in this kind of game.

Give me Bash any day, the man bleeds United and has been consistently fantastic for us for at least 3 seasons straight

In hindsight... Cranie probably should have kept his place

What a shit game all they wanted to do was stop us playing and hope to get one on the break or from a free kick, we were poor though. I thought Cranie was decent when he came on Freeman poor the rest pretty average, shit officials.

If we get auto promotion by one point perhaps

Crap game for both sides. Fouls everywhere. I don’t think anyone was poor particularly, but nobody was amazing. Well done Henderson on the save.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – Madine isn’t going to get decisions till he stops looking for stuff where he’s trying to manufacture a decision. And I like Madine. But he’s got to cut that out of his game, because in falling to the ground and clutching his face when there’s nothing in it he’s harming the decisions when he’s actually fouled in the box like tonight.

Not sure moving Basham to mid worked, but I thought Cranie was excellent when he came on.

Why oh why does he persevere with Basham, for all his energy he’s terrible on the ball, his passing his woeful and if we ever want to progress we need to replace him, while ever he’s Wilders favourite I can’t see him goimg anywhere.

What’s disappointing is that’s probably in the bottom 3 performances all year, was it tactics, pressure or how the opppsotion set up to nullify our usual play, probably a bit of all of that, a points a point, and we move onto 2 winnable games which we must take 6 points.

When CW made that sub and change in tactics, i think even he thought fuck it. nowt nowt will do. I tend to agree with him.

There were two obvious points to bring Duffy on, the first was just before Cranie did when we were bossing possession and just needed someone to find the final pass, instead we took the foot off the gas a bit after the sub the midfield and defence were far too compressed and took a while to get some shape back. There was another good time for it later, after McGoldrick was starting to get involved and cause a bit of chaos in their defence, stick Duffy on for Freeman or Basham and it would probably have made the difference.

It was a poor game, but the couple of dominant spells we did have should have been used to kill them off.

Cranie needs to replace Basham, that was clear to see.

As said earlier by someone else it's games like that where our lack of serious pace is a handicap. You need something a little different when sides play narrow and frustrate you.

Wednesday defended well for the third game running against us.

We have taken 4 points from 2 very tough away games. (WBA & Pigs)

lets just move on - We could be second again on Saturday.

Bristol v leeds and Blades v Rotherham. Leeds must win to stay in front if we can beat Rotherham.

Leave the pigs to enjoy another 0-0 win.

The trouble with playing Madine (that's not a criticism of him more the team) was we went long, not until McGoldrick came on did we start playing football. They were starting to panic in the last 15mins if we had played to feet more they would have cracked eventually. Still on target for the top two, win at home draw away and we will be very close at the end as no team as yet averaged 2pts per game this season.

Poor quality all over the pitch
We fell into the trap of "Derby days are scrappy affairs"

I did think when Basham was moved into midfield in place of Dowell that it felt a bit like accepting we weren’t going to play any great football rather than trying to remedy that by seeing if Duffy could create more problems. I did think the McGoldrick change in contrast worked in that he got much more involved and helped us to move the ball.

Yeah in the context of the last few games, we've done ourselves a favour by beating Boro and West Brom and smashing Reading. We've drawn tonight with a so-so performance but Norwich and Leeds have both lost one recently, we added to the tally.

Just need to keep at it.

There are plenty of games that are winnable without the tension of a derby.

We go again v Rotherham - I expect a front 3 of Billy, McG and Duffy for that.

I would score that as:

Henderson 8/10
Freeman 6/10
Stevens 6/10
Basham 6/10
Egan 7/10
JOC 7/10
Norwood 7/10
Fleck 6/10
Dowell 6/10
Sharp 6/10
Madine 6/10

Cranie 7.5/10
McGoldrick 7/10

I thought the front two plugged away as best they could with very mixed service – not so much from Norwood, but from the rest. If anything I think the extended break post WBA made us look rusty rather than refreshed.

A bit like the Villa game, make amends in the upcoming home games and this is quickly forgotten.

1 off game derby wise of course. i wanted 3pts & disappointed, promotion wise as i said on different thread its a ok point as every little helps, beat Rotherham & Brentford its 10pts from 12 going into huge Leeds game but it was similar to Merseyside derby. it was 100mph. blood & thunder. but few chances, maybe Keith Edwards was right that because unlike all the other huge city derbies they guaranteed 2 sometimes 3 a yr with cups. but ours a like cup finals as they are so rare. the last 15 years we only had 7 at the lane in all competitions. compared to north London derby where in last 15 yrs arsenal have had 19

we always knew that wednesday would up their game tonight its what people do in big derby matches & they did well. derbies are notorious difficult they could be bottom of league 1 & would be tough. i would've like to have seen Duffy to try & spark that bit of magic but im not wilder & he obviously had a plan. it nearly worked we seemed to be dangerous from corners. if i can take the neutral stance for a brief moment as at least from spectacle Point Of View it was a contest which hasnt been the case for the last 2, its been 1 side attacks & the other 1 waving white flag from kick off

i thought i give some interesting stats from tonight.
  • the last time we had 3 consecutive steel city derby draws was feb 1930 (when there was 4 consecutive draws),
  • last time utd didnt manage to score in 3 consecutive derbies was in october 1913
  • 1st time Wednesday have failed to score in 3 consecutive derbies
  • never before have there been 3 consecutive goalless draws

Why the fuck is the ref finishing the game 3 or 4 seconds before time when were in decent positions both halves?

That did feel like a very easy, non controversial time to end the match whereas if we had got it in to the box from what I think was a throw anything could have happened.
Ref making life easy for himself I reckon.
