If Blackwell falls on his sword, what sort of manager should be looking for.

Ideally i would like to see the job given to a young manager, doing well in the lower leagues and give him the freedom to do what he wants.

Andy Scott anyone?

No, let's listen to Brian the Blade and give it to Strachan :D

I'd love Pesch to do it in a few years after he's cut his teeth at Burton.

Well, if last month's rumour is true and McCabe is close to selling up, maybe the new owners will have their own ideas. New owners, blaze of headlines usually means they want a 'name'.

What is worrying at the moment is that the whole solidarity of the 'Blades Way' seems a million miles away at the moment and you wonder how anyone could come in with the playing side seemingly in transition.

I know he won promotion with Brentford, but they seem to be struggling a bit at the moment. Does anyone know about his style? Reading this:http://www.brentfordfc.co.uk/page/LatestNews/0,,10421~1829410,00.html he sounds like Blackwell...

The only thing he'd have going for him would be the former United player connection. At least the pair didn't play together very often ....

If we were to look elsewhere we may have missed out on Paul Lambert. Great Celtic links, and has a good idea of playing the game.

Also a Champions/Moneybags League winner with Borussia Dortmund.

The thing is, looking from the outside at how our 'fans' are and have been going on about a Manager who got us to the playoff final last season.
Would anyone really want to come in and manage United, the weight of expectation (and pretty unrealistic exectation in some cases) would be massive and any sort of slip up in their first few games they would probibly be hung in the BDTBL car park.

I'd have Ian Holloway but I don't think he'd come from Blackpool.
