The Names Moore, Simon Moore

It is a position that can determine a season. Long was adequate last year but he had to push on this season to be the player we needed. He went the backwards instead. Let's hope Moore stays fit and confident.

You seem to have misspelt "fuckin shite" as a.d.e.q.u.a.t.e.

:)

Both keepers made some outstanding saves. I think Ebanks-Landell deserves a mention, thought he was an absolute tank today, stepped forward a number of times to make some crucial blocks - something that has been lacking. Well played to Moore though, MotM.

...think t'owd EEL will be getting a good few threads of his own over the season...early days, but looks like what we've been missing.

UTB!

Isn't it great to have a keeper in the net that doesn't scare the crap out of us every time as ball goes near our goal? Great game by Moore, looks a PROPER keeper.

I thought Done did ok as well, but I'll still give Basham MOTM today. He covered every inch as he always does, but this time he passed it really well.

Not sure about MOTM (thought that was Done), but I bet a few Peterborough fans were saying "Who's their number 6?" Quality game again from Bash.

Sounds as though Moore's won the sponsors MOTM, but I personally thought it was as close call between him, Done and Basham with Bash just nicking it. 3 excellent performances from all 3 players.

Not to single out anyone because their are alot of players who are doing great now, but i think its no coincidence that our upturn in form has come with simon moores arrival. Had a great 1st impressions where felt comfortable straight away. 3 fantastic saves again today especially that point blank 1 amazing. Kept us in the game & utd j think only lost 1 game in 90min in all competitions. That was only cos oconnells self destruction at millwall.

Might be the 1 of best buys we had for a long while. Defietely The best Goalie ive watched at the lane since the traitor left

Aye, he was teriffic today - the save he made towards the end was class

Can only help his confidence as he starts to develop relationships with the rest of the back 4. He'll surely only improve now he is getting regulat first team football again - was obviously gonna take a while to get his game sharpness back.

The most important position in the side, it's took us seven years since Paddy left to sort it out but we've got there at last.

Having to watch George The Flower Seller seems like some distant horrible nightmare now.

In wilder we trust!

I'll be the first to say I had my doubts about spending a lot of £££ on a keeper, but he's starting to pay it back. Looks like a top signing.

A good manager will either be a lucky man and be able to stick with a very good keeper already at the club, or he will go out and spend the most money that he can possibly afford on a new keeper. The position is absolutely vital to any team and it is always worth the outlay to bring in the best that you can for that key part of the side. Never understood why some clubs pay an absolute fortune for star strikers who can put the ball in the net, but will pay little attention to what is probably the most important position in the team and the one who can keep em out and win a team a game.

Starting to feel like we're on the move, it will take time to turn this big ship around but it's looking a little less like the Titanic.

Lets hope the board doesn't mess it up

Looks like we struck lucky with Moore. He wanted to leave Cardiff because he wasn't getting a chance ahead of Marshall, so we get him in. Then a few days later, Hull want Marshall and he's on his way, leaving Cardiff to have to scratch around for a keeper.

So perhaps we should thank Long. Had he been merely poor rather than at bomb scare levels, we'd have probably delayed too long and missed the boat on Moore. Cheers George!

Did we get cut apart? They had plenty of shots from distance but only one clear chance in that half which Moore saved brilliantly.

Not to say Moore wasn't very good, but Posh rarely got round the back of us.

We weren't cut apart at all. Cap-doffing to the opposition. It's the Bladesfans' Way.

Peterborough were a good side but we kept our shape defensively and not once were they able to play any one in on goal, in the fashion with which we have become very familiar.

Whilst I'm at it:

Kenny was a clown. Not fit to be mentioned in the same paragraph as Alan Kelly.

There is nothing "unfortunate" about getting rid of Calamity George.

Don't know about whether Long would have conceded or not but those of us who can tell what is and what is not a keeper feel vindicated. However, Lets see how we are at the end of the season. Plenty of time for a few costly ricks even though he "looks the part" at the moment.
George never "looked the part".

That's 9 performances. Remarkable....

One thing that he did really stuck out a mile for me.

About two thirds of the way through the second half Posh had a corner, it got swung in to about a yard away from the six yard box. Moore came off his line, quickly and rightly decided he wouldn't get there, so he shouted to his defence and retreated back to his line ready to make a stop if requires and left it to his defence to clear the ball which they did. Not giving George Long a kicking but he would have ended up stuck in no mans land, and wouldn't have given the right call and left his own defence in 2 minds.

That was the mark of a quality keeper, and I think Simon Moore turned in the best goalkeeping performance I've seen from a United keeper in years.

Harsh, Paddy was a decent Keeper, but you are right he was not in the same universe when comparing to Alan Kelly

Several very good saves yesterday, that won us the match. He gives me confidence. I wouldn't have had the same confidence in Long or Howard to make those saves, and Posh could've quite easily left with a 2-1 win yesterday, had it not been for Moore. Very good signing from Wilder thus far.

Just catching up on thoughts and was about to say he does not come for things he should not. That communication is great that he has done that. Let the defenders defend and he becomes the last line.
I really thought our defenders were not that good but they were trying well. If the confidence comes from the communication of the Keeper then we can look forward to the defenders getting better and better.

Kelly was better than Kenny, no question, and Kenny may be a clown off the pitch, but Kenny was a damn good keeper for us. If we'd have had him for all 38 games in the Prem, rather than 34, we'd have stayed up.

20 years of Tracey, Kelly and Kenny. No wonder we have no tolerance of poor quality goalkeeping!
