The most sensible managerial appointment we've made for a while?

Oh I wasn't I know there wasn't any agreement over Wilder, and I'm not 100% sure of Slav, so there you go!
No one should ever be 100% about a manger. Bigger names have gone to better situated clubs and messed it up. As I said, I'd prefer it if Wilder was still here, but out of the list of realistic replacements Jokanovic is streets ahead of the rest in my view.

because he was fucking blavvered.

People joke about that....but to be honest when you listened to his post match interviews..,that would be the best explanation.
There was zero insight into the match...nothing about players or tactics.
I wanted him sacked just based on his pre and post match interviews....it was exactly the same every match as though he was reading a script.

Yes. At the time Wilder I don't think Wilder had any experience above League Two. I can believe someone at the club knew more than I did, and he went on to be a huge success (I'm still gutted he's not with us), but let's not rewrite history and pretend everyone was on the same side about it. We'd just had the failures of Adkins and Clough, fans were despondent, and the general opinion, given we'd be languishing in League One for several years, was that the board were clueless.

Wilder was Micky Adams 2.0 on here. A lot of history being rewritten.

To be honest I was in peak, "I don't really give a fuck anymore" when Wilder was appointed, so I'm not sure I had any view at all. I did defend him when people were calling for him to be sacked after 4 games though.

Not because I could 👀 how it would play out but because that would have been stupid

Exactly my thoughts too.

Slav is best out of the realistic choices but every appointment and every signing is a gamble. Sometimes the stars align, sometimes it's a decent workout and sometimes it's just not working.

If I was going to liken Jokanović‘s appointment to any previous appointment I’d say Howard Kendall.

That said it’s pointless trying to draw parallels with previous appointments. The isn’t a hoodoo based on how pleased the fans are initially with the appointment. This appointment isn’t guaranteed success but it’s certainly not guaranteed failure either.

Wilder and Adkins both made sense at the time...in fact, Adkins had a pretty similar CV to Jokanovic in terms of promotions.
Bang on that mate - the hype, excitement and expectation all remind me of a certain NA appointment
Hope I’m wrong but I get a feeling he won’t be here by December
We had 16 players out if contract at the end of the season and next to no money to reinvest as Weir and Clough had spunked the Prince's investment, largely on shite. Murphy was then quickly out of the door. The bit of money he did have he wasted. Realistically noone stood a chance of promotion as the out of contract players didn't give a shit. Adkins loss was Wilder's gain as he could rebuild - albeit from a low base - once their contracts expired.
I'm not sure as SJ will have a major influence on signings.
Not Weir he didn’t have the funds .and Prince wasn’t here until September ish ?
Weir was promised that a team would be built around McDonald and we know the rest.
Clough had money tho’
