The most difficult 'predict the crowd' yet, v Birmingham

But the most empty stand (BL) probably only had 2,000 spare. The kop is likely next with 1,500 or so. 800-1000 on the John Street, odd few on the south stand and then a few hundred for segregation on the lower tier of BL.
some poster on here said yesterday there were only 200 left in john street looking like about 29k i would say

Depends how they report it- sales or through the turnstile. Sales will be close to sell out, through turnstile a reasonable drop off (holiday season, 8pm KO, etc)

I think it's because, apart from our last two stints in the Premier League and the promotion pushes, tickets have always been easy to come by. If we'd had a sustained spell in the top flight where it's a sell out most games, that attitude would be different.

Very true, buying early and getting sorted out quickly just isn't part of the culture at Bramall Lane, plus the clubs moronic policy of only allowing one ticket per person continues.
In order to fill the stadium, the difference between 27,000 and 32,000 we have to attract more casual fans.

What casual fan is going to go on his/her own and sit there like a lemon ?

And, the number of restricted view tickets at Bramall Lane is beyond a joke, the stadium from the inside might look ok cosmetically, but it really is a mish mash of individual stands chucked up without much thought for the customer.

Now let's see... South Stand, Bramall Lane Upper plus corner, John Street zero restricted views.

Kop and corner a few.

Yep, it's a shit ground, just like everything in Sheffield.

Yeah let's get an out of town soulless identikit lego bowl like Reading and Hull.

There's a reason BDTBL is often voted in the top 5 of grounds in the division by neutrals.

B l upper is empty so I say only 24,445

Why would we want to do that ?
And being close to the boozers on Ecclesall Road and London Road doesn't make it a good stadium. There's very little thought gone into design, comfort, vision and utilising space, hence the reason why we end up with the same empty seats for every game. The Kop Corner is beyond embarrassing, the left hand side of the Kop is totally restricted view, the entire section. The poles in the way block a certain amount of vision for almost every seat on the kop even though only a few are declared restricted view.

John Street closest to the away fans, there are many restricted view seats.
Just because a stadium is bowl shaped doesn't mean it's souless either, stadiums are designed that way worldwide so that everybody can bleeding see what's happening.

Just counted theres now 109 left on the John Street stand and 27 left on the South stand.

Most areas of the Kop close to selling out however there’s loads left in the far edges on gangway A
Also loads avaiable on both wings of the Bramall Lane upper tier,

Pretty sure it’s over 29K but won’t break 30K, so I’ll go for 29,474, which is quite impressive for a televised game.

You obviously just don't get it do you?

What I get, is that the extra fans needed to fill the stadium have to be made up from people who are not regular attendees

These people will not buy a single ticket, sit on their own, behind a pole, or a wall, or so wide and off kilter from the pitch that they can't see anything.

The evidence suggests this can’t be a massive issue.
The best seats in the house are in the Bramall Lane upper tier, really close to the pitch, no poles, loads of seats together
but they’ve been by far the worse selling seats for this game.

I love us to do the Kop, it’s easily the worse stand
take out the poles so the whole thing has unrestricted views, enclose the concourse areas at the back giving protection from the weather
and whilst we’re doing this why not increase it‘s capacity by 2,000 or so. Would love to see it but not sure how cost effective it would be.

Depends what a massive issue actually is
There isn't a hope of selling Bramall Lane out totally because of the one ticket per person policy and the restricted views.

Without selling out, it will always be deemed stupid to make the stadium bigger, but the reasons for not selling out are ignored

Think you're alone on this. It's not perfect but as good as any.

I believe there are still plans in place (from the previous regime, whether princey goes with it is another matter), to do what you suggest but add another 3k on the back of the Kop.

Personally, I think it's a bloody awful stand, cheap and nasty from the word go (as befits the regime at the time, did Interpol ever catch up with him?). I'd knock it down and build a proper Kop Stand that holds about 17k.
