So after the fiasco at Coventry it's back to BDBL for the visit of rock bottom Oldham. They are without a win in 7 and needless to say their season is reflecting their poor side. Now in years gone by this would be a cue to hand 3 priceless points to the opposition, but under CW we seem to be more resilient.... However a professional job still needs to be done this afternoon against an Oldham side that are bound to 'park the bus'....

But anyway...

Any team news? :)

A recall for Scougall?

James Wilson returning to fitness?

Go unchanged from last week?

Certainly an interesting afternoon in store with one eye on Scunny at Bradford, we only need a nine goal swing to go top assuming Bradford win :D :D

Anyway I hope it's an enjoyable afternoon, and I'll stay grounded and suggest a 2-0 Blades win.

I am absolutley buzzing for this one. Best match day of the year is boxing day.

Into town earlier than usual, a few pints with the old man, brother and pals; little presty's backpack is rammed full of his selection box contents - inc some fruit gums he got of Captain Blade.

Win at a canter, maybe 5 or 6 nil and then its back to my mums for some cold turkey sarnies and nibbles with the female half of the family.

Thats a proper day.

0-0.

Banana skin this one with plenty of part timers ready and primed to boo from the off.

I'm afraid it's more likely to be a grind than a battering today.

But most people will see that Oldham are bottom and expect us to win by 3+ goals.

Just looked at Oldham's goals against in their last 10 league matches

2-1-2-1-0-1-2-0-2-1

compared to ours

1-0-1-1-0-1-1-1-3-0

It's going to be a massacre.

Nobody outside the top 6 has conceded less goals than Oldham but nobody has scored less.

All points to a huge rearguard action by them and a 0-0 or 1-0 unless we score early.

Expect it to be a game of shots in with them looking to catch him us on the break.

They may be bottom but this won't be easy unless we get 2 early goals.

I'll take the 1-0 now

7/5 for us to win to nil today, which based on the stats looks a good bet

A day for patience and maybe a hard slog to break this stubborn Oldham team down. This side has shown its more than capable of beating these sort of sides and therefore I'm expecting a hard fought 3 points today.
Coyraww!!!

Agree with the posters above who predict a frustrating afternoon, at least until half time. Over 90 minutes though I think we will have enough to despatch this lot and am sticking with 2-0.

That being said, if we score early they will need to come out on the attack and I could seriously see us hammering them.

On the other hand our defense needs to be switched on from the off because if they score first we could have a mountain to climb.

Early goal so important and we should go all out to get it.

We need to start with aggression - real fucking anger, play with a high tempo and shoot on sight.

Oldham over the years have conceded more goals on Boxing Day than anyone else. We are the fourth highest scorers.
No idea what relevance that has to today.

I said that against coventry, they looked very nervous early on, we got the early goal and everbody in the pub thought here we go, very hard to predict Ricky, but I do agree with what you say, sooner or later the possession/shots/pressure should meen somebody is going to get a 5 or 6 goal thumping, is it today dad? Could well be.

as said, early goal is the key,Oldham will be all out to frustrate us,expect the usual time-wasting ploys etc
saying that,I am fully confident of a blades victory,
enjoy and be safe everyone
