The Lundstram Myth...

I don't think lundstram is shit and not deserving of the role he's played this year and people need to stop just reading what they want to read and see what i'm trying to say.

I replied to what I quoted, and what you wrote, which was to say Besic is better than Lundstram. I’m not really sure how I could have interested that any differently...

Lundstram and Besic are both useful players, but slightly different in style and approach.
Arsenal, just like every other team we face now, have played us once. They are also starting to improve and respond to their new manager. They still seem to have issues in defence. Its a tough choice for Wilder.
Lundstram can create chances as part of a flat 3 that has made our forwards look good this season.
Besic is a good choice to unsettle the more skillful Arsenal players, but if Lundstram is sacrificed to make way for Besic, then McGoldrick should get the nod to keep our attack options viable.
I know quite a few who want Moose and McBurnie to start, but if Lundstram doesn’t play, it still needs some attack minded linking play up front.

Well whatever any fan thinks do you really think Wilder gives a toss. He will select Lundstram as he's doing what's been asked of him. Personal vendettas people have to their percieved scapegoats dont carry any weight. You can have an opinion as you call it but it is unsubstantiated saying he's not doing a job as we beat West ham and only nearly blew it when he was taken off.

To look where we could improve our team and give reasonable rationale behind it doesn’t mean I’m going for a scapegoat. Just means it looking and watching the team and trying to see how we can kick on.

Where and why am I suggesting Wilder would give a toss if I’m posting on s24su a fans forum ffs.

Lundstram does jobs. Fleck and Norwood don't do. They are by design offering different options in midfield. Each compliments the other but each work better with the other. Its about balance and just now its working. Could it be better. Maybe but if it aint broke.....
Lundstram was out v man city and our away record went. But hey ho that's just a blindingly obvious fact

Thank god he was back for the Liverpool game.

The fact is Lundstram has to cover hard miles in his games, and he has looked jaded for a little while now. I think its natural to look to freshen up that position for a few games at least.

He didn't shine v Liverpool but they were magnificent. But to be fair who has shone v Liverpool this season and they do have the advantage of having cost 30 times what our squad cost. Over the past decade they've spent 100 times more than we have..A lot of the team looked jaded v west ham but theres been a lot of games.

Lunny had a great start to the season but needs a rest. All he did v West Ham was wave just arms around like a scarecrow and pass the ball back to them.

He’s done OK. Maybe even better than that.

Looks like he will move on and the club will turn a tidy profit.

If only ‘‘twas always thus !

Yes the scapegoat is back !!

To be honest, I agree in part about Lundstram. I fear that his form was a bit of a 'purple patch'. He improved in the 2nd half yesterday (as they all did) but against Wolves and Newcastle I thought he was poor for the most part.
Wolves in particular he could've passed the ball through to the strikers on a couple of occasions but held it just a little too long and got intercepted. But all players have off days.

All that said, he's certainly been a very big player for us so far this year.

I would however like to see a number 10 return in certain games - Villa & Watford at home are two where I feel we could do this. Put McGoldrick or Freeman in the 10 with McGoldrick/McBurnie upfront with Mousset.
I feel we have adapted into the division enough now to play with a little less fear.

But then if we go to Man City, Liverpool and Arsenal without Lundstram in the middle and we're asking for trouble.

This is where we went wrong first season in the Prem for me - there were some games where we should have used a No:10 and built on it when we were doing well - we might have fared better season 2.

All water under the bridge now.
