Was having a look back at the highlights video of the 2005/06 season last night (as you do). Interesting reminder that, coming into the 40th game of the season, we were under severe pressure - Leeds and Watford breathing down our necks, & getting closer & closer & closer.

We'd just had the wobble of wobbles. Four game stretch of 3 losses and a draw: 2-3 at home to QPR, 0-0 v Crewe in the snow, then losing 2-0 at Coventry, and 2-1 at Norwich. 1 point in 4. Meanwhile Watford and Leeds had both got 8 points (& remained unbeaten) over that period and had got back to within 3 and 4 points of us respectively. Pressure!!

Anyway, you know what happened next... 1.20.50 -> Cracking post-match interview with NW!

That's the point on the vid that the highlights for the relevant game starts (the home game v Southampton, game 40 in that season, on about the same date as we are now)
 
Ah that Super Blade Neil Warnock who did his best to fuck off to Portsmouth just months before with United top of the table, all because he had a hissy fit over his contract....

Remember it well - I got married the day after the Norwich defeat and thought we'd blown it *. Leeds and Watford weren't fantastic in the run in though as I remember it.

* EDIT: There is no link between my wedding and me thinking United had blown it. Simply stating that I recall those months quite well :).

Interesting noticing some of the things that have only become relevant in hindsight. Such as Kazim-Richards scoring for Brighton at the Lane, Kitson scoring and having a pen saved by Paddy in the draw v Reading, Neill Collins making his debut on loan at the Sty...

The Hull game though, eh. We've got all that to go through again...

Yeah he lost me at that stage and he just became another manager instead of a Blade and manager.

Couldn't imagine Wilder doing something like that.

That was the game Neil reverted to the tried and trusted (Shipps) and ditched the largely ineffective Badbuy
 
Love watching the Hull highlights, we didn't half have some luck that game. April the 1st when we play Bradford this year, fingers crossed for the same and hope it's the game that seals it for us.

This could be the game that seals it and it will be our biggest crowd of the season that will see it. What's not to like?

Great video.

Absolute highlight for me has to be Monty's pass in the derby at the lane, 48:36 in to the video. Footballing genius that lad!
