Shoreham Street - Til Death Us Do Part
On paper ok a few more draws than we would have liked to see however for me watching them pitch side we did more than enough to win at Orient and Stevenage but lacked a tiny bit of clinical-ness which will come as well as a bit of bad luck so I am confident that we can build on this.
However looking at the last 6 games, defensively especially we have to be one of the best teams in the league with stats such as.
- Only conceded 2 goals in six games.
-4 Clean sheetsout of 6.
Midfield wise I think over this last 6 games we have grown as a unit and got better and better as the games have gone on, yesterday obviously probably our best all round midfield display of the season. I am now confident that with the options available in Flynn, McGinn, Doyle, Murphy and Coady we have more than enough quality in there to see us through xmas with hopefully another quality addition coming in January.
Up Front......Before the dig about clinical-ness I will start with a massive positive in the work rate which for me has improved tenfold and this has to be recognized as it has helped us to take control of matches and take a bit more time on the ball etc.
However despite Baxter stepping up to the plate and looking very good might I add, we do still need this striker into the club in January. Porter has done very well, I won't knock him because he has grafted his socks off for the cause and has played a massive part in the turnaround whether people like him or not. Ok he's missed a few sitters but thats another story.
Either way to sum up looking at yesterdays performance I think we are more than equipped to bag some points against Oldham and Tranmere and I think we are more than equipped as a whole to have a decent degree of success in the busy period coming up. We have now turned a corner I personally feel and the foundations are definitely in place to offload the dead wood and strengthen in January.
Well done to all the regular players.
Well done to the fringe players who have stepped up to the plate and given us selection dilemmas.
Well done to Mr Clough, Mr Morgan and the rest of them.
Well done everyone else associated with the playing side of things at Bramall Lane.
