Loved Marsh's goal. Absolutely steamed in. Good reaction
Have said before that Marsh is a more natural goal scorer than anyone else we have. They way he took that chance was pure class.
His overall game needs improving but I wouldn't send him out on loan as I think he will learn more playing alongside the likes of Moore on the training pitch.

As I said, definitely could be wrong! It does feel like a trend to me, was it always this prevalent? Did Jags, Monty, Tonge go out on loans? Genuine question, I can’t remember.

For me, I get excited about the prospects, then deflated when instead of them being on the verge of the first team, they are farmed out. Curtis is a great example; the fanfare of us beating the great and the good for this fantastic player, only for us to be told he is miles off it and he needs to go elsewhere, leaves you feeling a bit “meh”.
It's not that we know he's miles off it, just that we can reduce the risk by bringing in a more known quantity for a season whilst still keeping Curtis and not paying his wages. It's a win win.

The game you weren’t?

Excellent result, LOADS of positives and minutes for the kids, granted. Outside of Peck I don’t think any are ready for the first team squad just yet, that’s all. Keep your knickers on.
Not that we need to trust them just yet, a few basic mistakes on set pieces by young lads (shouldn’t happen with senior pros but forgivable on young uns). To be fair Peck looks quality but sustaining it for long periods at championship level is another matter. I think he’s a very good bench player, equally Brooks and Seriki, Brooks seems to lack concentration at times but with games at championship level would sharpen up. If i was the opposition and saw those on the bench I would think they could really put us under pressure late in a game when we are knackered.

It is a fairly new phenomenon which I think came into play when the restructure of academics happened. We all want to see kids from our youth set up play but sometimes throwing them into a division they're not ready for can harm them. They often need to make their mistakes lower down the leagues. Norwood mentioned it on the podcast he did with United. He went to Scunny on loan as a kid and was awful but it helped him in the long run.

For me the thing about loaning a player out to any club is you don't have the same control or support system around you, if you have a bad game are they just going to lump you on the bench for the remaining loan period, is the manager secure in his job or could you see a new manager come in and be out of favour or it be a completely different style of play. I do think that loans can be beneficial especially if the loaning club do have some sort of say but loans can also be periods of the player just sitting on the bench at a different club.

You're not wrong, I'd even be hesitant to throw Seriki in for anything more than the odd game - especially against better opposition.

Peck may well be ready but I get the opinion that it may be better for him to play week in week out somewhere for a few months.
Problem with sending them out was a weak squad and if you have a chairman who is unwilling to replace players with other players in more depth then sending out is foolhardy however well intentioned. I think a few could go but not the three mentioned, however in training having good young lads around does benefit the squad.

The leap between championship and lower divisions is very big. There is a reason promoted teams usually get relegated within a couple of years. Subs I say at the lane for three maybe 2 more for keeping squad games competitive (unless more quality purchases are brought in)

Yeah I agree. We beat a second string Wrexham yesterday and whilst It was great seeing so many youngsters part of a winning side, only Peck looked like he could comfortably step in to a promotion chasing side
Possibly seriki but based on 20 minutes and game time who knows. What i do know is we have a stretched squad and for training and keeping the others on their toes (aspiring youngsters can provide that). Doom and gloom has not been self-inflicted the board drove some fans to despair for obvious reasons. I have not been critical recently as they appear to have a well thought out plan, however don’t be surprised if I cane the next lot who might or might not come in rip up the plans and bring in their own management staff. Over the past few years academy appointments have been made by Wilder and Hecky(wilder bringing Hecky in, Wilder brought lester in who ran the academy and wilder brought Mitch in who was responsible for recruiting many good players. The prince has not been fully supportive and has sacked all of them apart from Lester who works for first team and brought backed sacked staff. Hopefully we will get new owners who aren’t as rash and stingy. If we don’t i’ll be banging on about it as I am a fan first not a doom and gloom merchant by nature.

I still think it's the best option to get them game time. It worked wonders with Arblaster last season and before them RND, Slater and Whiteman all had a few seasons on loan before becoming Championship standard players. I can only think of David Brooks in recent seasons who came straight into our first team straight from the academy. Even Jebbo and Osula went on loan and were only recalled due to our injury crisis. Obviously Andre Brooks came in last season and it will be interesting to see if last season hindered his progress or helped him.
David Brooks was going out to chesterfield to get him bulked up playing with big mesters

Yeah you only have to listen to Wilder post Huddersfield to see he didn't want to be using the academy lads too much this season but hopefully our late business has been beneficial for them. I'm with you regarding the club. I can't fault what we've done over the last few weeks

Risks you take but they’re all lessons. You need to die to be a footballer and being left on a bench should annoy any player but it’s how you respond. Only the best who deal with that adversity achieve their full potential and return with a steadfast will to succeed.

Speaking of the kids, it was nice to see RND back on the pitch last night, hopefully with a new medical team they might be able to manage his recovery better and get him back to full fitness.

I reckon the people in the club shop have just been enjoying the break from sticking his name on the shirt. Bet it's a right pain in the arse getting the curve on that.

Best set of youngsters we've had for ages from what I can remember.. or is it that we're finally using the academy more? Never seen so many get minutes. Wilders first spell I can't remember many.
One of my complaints about CWs first spell was his apparent reluctance to give youngsters a chance. Seems to have gone full circle in this spell. Great to see.

It’s not really a one size fits all scenario. Some players need a loan, some players develop later some are just ready to push for a first team place already at a young age.
If they are going on loan, it’s important to get the right club, playing a style that will benefit both the player and us. This isn’t always done.
For example, Man City trust us, though last season’s shit fest, might have put them off before they have seen how we started again this season.

But but but, they haven't had a League One loan? But but but....

I listened to a bunch of podcasts last week where the 'experts' were telling us they were unproven, potentially shit and need a League One loan. If we end up playing them for more than 5 games this season we'll be getting relegated.

You know who you are....
They were playing against a league one reserve side
