Its the inconsistency in their comments which gets me or the fantasy land comments. Yes, i agree, if all those things that they talk about come together, then they're a top side, but the truth is that none of those things happened, they sacked their manager, brought in a new one (and he struggled initially) and they finished closer to relegation than promotion (just).

Next season, its all about what they can do to change that. Yes the likes of Forestieri, Bannan and others being fit will help. Those players being in form will be a boost too. But looking at patterns over the last couple of years, there is a lower probability of those things happening.

So then there is FFP, they're stuck with Rhodes, from what i've picked up they don't have much room to manoeuvre, so bringing in new signings will be tough unless they shift some of the players out. And this to me will be the players like Forestieri, Bannan, Reach.... because they have a value.

End of season predictions from me (with exactly what us and them have now) i have put them at 15th next season. I'd put us at 8th with Wilder, 17th or below without Wilder.

28th Apr. Wolves (A) Drew 0-0, Wolves already confirmed as Champions.
21 Apr. Reading (H) Won 3-0, Reading utterly shite - 44 points out of 46 games.
14th April. Hull (A) Won 1-0, Hull almost as poor as Reading.
10th April. QPR (A) Lost 4-2. QPR nowt to play for but 3 goals ahead of the pigs after 15 minutes.
7th April. Fulham (H) Lost 1-0. The only decent team they've played since Villa on February 24th. (Which they lost 4-2 at home).

Just before their 'train-like' ending, they'd beaten Sunderland, Preston & Leeds. They've had a very fortunate run-in is all. Now if they'd played Derby, Cardiff, Villa - even Millwall - their recent form would look very different.

They can only play who the fixture list gives them. They were the 3rd most form side over the last 10 games, behind Fulham & Wolves, picking up 20 points, scoring 21 goals and conceding 10. Say what you like, I class that as a strong ending to the season, even 'train like'. We started the season in a very similar manner to they ended it. After the first 10 games, we were on 21 points, scoring 14, conceding 8. I'd also refer to that as 'train like'.

Most of the ones I know are through work and to be fair most of them have developed a healthy cynicism about the MASSIVE.
A couple stopped going to games when Chanser hiked the prices; another is outraged at how Chanser has turned the club into a self promoting ego trip and one or two more seem to have given up caring altogether. We'll see how long that lasts though I guess.
And then again there is always a couple; one convinced we just got lucky this year and another who insists that Sheffield will always be blue & white. When I pointed them towards the league table they claimed "it's about culture not numbers" I nearly spat my tea out at that and even his fellow grunters were laughing at him! Needless to say he was talking about how they are bigger, hmm not about numbers eh? Thick cunt.

Been out in Hillsborough tonight. Had the mouth breathers stating “Different next year, will be higher in the league than the Blunts. WAWAW”, whilst going home to apply for a job at NASA. The Pigs are not a bad side, too good to go down at least. It is all about keeping players over summer. Hooper can score at this level, so can Forest Fairy, and "Big Dave" as they all call him, scored about 9 goals in the final eight games. So they can be a threat up front. It will be interesting to see who stays and who goes.

Plus the pig fans will still be paying a fortune to go in sit in the urine stinking rust bucket.

I agree. As much as I dislike them, my views are tinged with the reality that they are a different proposition under their current manager. They finished the season like a train and it'll be interesting if they can strip away the dead wood, keep foresteri interested and bring in some trusted german/continental players. I appreciate that they are tip toeing around financial issues, but i can see them being competitive for a top 6 next finish next season. I wouldn't want to have played them again in the last 10 matches of this season due to the disparate nature of our form. Overall we've had a good season, but we're not as good as some on here think.

I genuinely don't think either Sheffield team will be at any risk of going up next season and certainly not in the top 3 or 4. One of us may sneak in to the play offs but I predict a finish between 6th and 12th for both of us. The 3 losing play off contenders and probably the 3 relegated sides will all be there or there abouts, more so than we've seen this year. With or indeed without Wilder we still have a mid table championship squad. One or two quality singings could persuade me otherwise, but another mid table season beckons I fear, regardless of who is in charge. There does come a point when you have to start shopping in the championship or premier league in order to improve the squad. There aren't 11 John Flecks all waiting to be discovered in League 1. For the most part players are playing there because thats their level.

I can't see the piggies challenging next season despite their illusions of grandeur.
We need to build on this season and I'm sure wilder has already got plans in place to make that happen!!.

NW will do what we did last season and try and cherry pick "hungry" players from the Championship. Fleck will be one and there are probably 2 or 3 more at our S6 neighbours. JOC might be of interest too - perhaps Gibson of boro. Pick from 4 or 5 at Fulham if they don't go up. It's Neils way, but Fleck has been excellent all season and is still capable of getting better which won't be lost on NW.

At risk of and without wanting to give it the big 'un, we were comfortably better than them this season.

Give me our squad over theirs any day, it may have been built on a relative shoestring but ours has solidarity, togetherness, character and plays some lovely stuff. Wilder and Knill have a real eye for a player.

Top six is a possibility if the club stays relatively free of injury, and none of the so-called crown jewels (or family jewels, as my brother-in-law calls them ) are sold.

There's no chance of top two IMO due to a lack of pace in the side, and I don't see where the cash is coming from to bring any in. I mean, Rhodes may well be loaned out, but that's probably to reduce expenditure rather than for money to spend on new players.

Winalot (or Winnowt ) is back, but it remains to be seen what effect he'll have. I can't see Wednesday flogging him if Rhodes is off.

The joys of living 200 miles away means that my life is not tainted with anything pig. A life pigless is so good and I only hear about them on here or when we play them. It really is a breath of completely fresh air and I seek to preserve that by not seeking out awareness or knowledge on porcine matters. I can recommend the pig free lifestyle.
