Theres been much a talk of late of our 'bad luck' or 'just lacking some creativity' but i cant help but think there's an air of inevitability about all this.

The squad we currently have now tells a big story about our club at this moment in time, the squad from our prem season has all but gone and weve been a steady decline ever since.

We've sold our best players, hired poor choices for managers, credit to blackwell for nearly doing it, but we all know what happens in the big games that matter to this club.

i cant help but look at the likes of southampton, charlton, bradford and dare i say it, the filth and compare us to them in so many ways. They spent alot of money on the 'premier dream' and failed, sold theyre best players at times when maybe the future of the club was more imporant than money. I credit us for having ago, the billionaires are ruining this games decency, but i fear we went too far. Heres to us coming back like leeds and norwich if that day does come and not like that list below.

Charlton
Southampton
Bradford
Filth.

Bradford spent cash in an alarming way when they had their 'season in the sun'. Simply not warranted for a team with absolutely no history of time spent in the top flight. Ditto Charlton.

Southampton (like so many teams) have benefitted from having a spanking-new stadium gifted to them. It helps when your income can be solely dedicated to running the club and acquiring players. An effective marketing dept. can massively help here, as can local businesses willing to have their name associated with their club such as Brittannia, Aviva, Walkers, Reebok, Galpharm etc. etc. (although being a one-club city helps) Who in the area would be willing to do that for us? Radio Sheffield? The Star? Sheffield Council? Exactly. Also, Soton. have a very good academy and know how to wring maximum value from their up-and-coming starlets rather than flogging them at the first sign of interest.

Wednesday cannot be lumped in with teams that lived the 'premier dream' and who are now reaping the results. You indicate you live in Sheffield, so there is absolutely no excuse for not realising that - according to the local media - they are still in the Premier league. They are a sleeping giant who have not been rewarded in any way for lying in court to HMRC, trading insolvently and still buying 6 players and getting an extremely dubious character (due back in court again soon) to bail them out.

So teams all have their different stories to tell, and most of the 'big' teams who sank into Division 3 were never big in the first place, based on their recent history (last 30-40 years), time spent in the top level, crowds etc. In the next 5-7 years, expect to see Blackpool back where they belong.

That's not a million miles away from the "The likes of" list who's plight we were never going to be in because we were so well run. No wonder he keeps quiet these days.
