Bizarre subs. Basham off ? Crazy.

Bash came off to allow a switch to 4-4-2 / 4-3-3, to be fair. Which was worth a shot, seeing as they 100% smothered our usual formation and approach.

We were poor tonight, but Leicester also did a right job on us.

Everyone had an off day, maybe a bit of billy big bollocks “look what we have just done to chelsea“ Wilder is spot on with his assessment of the players, although, some of them did look confused about the movement of Leicester and wilder was tinkering with his positional play whiteboard while knill was talking to him. Was he tactically outdone or just thinking of a way to get the lads playing better?

I can't disagree with anything CW said we were awful. Looked to me like the players let the Chelsea result go to their heads and went out there thinking they could stroll about and get a result .................... err no not in this league. If you thought the starting eleven was poor look how we played when the subs came on if anything we were worse, Lundstram's worse game all season he couldn't even be bothered to pick up their runners and Mousset looked just as disinterested. I will be surprised if both are with us next season. Kudo's to Wilder for getting "bullshit" into the interview, that word could sum up our performance tonight.

I think like many of us he is a fan, feels gutted & is letting his emotions flow.
Says it how it is. I agree to a certain extent that you are running a risk but our gaffer speaks from the heart and if any of the players don’t like what he says then knock on his door but they’d soon be walking back out again.

We need to keep to the standards that we’ve set ourselves and as soon as that slips it’s up to wilder to get them bang at it again. Ultimately its the only way that we keep improving. We can’t allow complacent performances like that tonight.

Pat the players on the head and say never mind cus you were great like week will only see standards slip and with that we will find ourselves dropping down the league.

Top marks to wilder tonight for those comments

I agree with what you are saying and I understand wilder is a fan and is upset like the rest of us and I can understand the comments but I just think saying they are league 1 quality is disrespectful to be honest. Slag them on the game and the way they played today that is fine I understand that and I did my fair bit tonight as well but theres a line and for me that's just disrespectful if I was a player and he said I was league 1 quality after getting promoted to the prem and sitting in 8th then I'd be amazed and feel totally disrespected but I suppose we will see how the players react to that.

Whilst the players were poor, Rodgers did outthink Wilder tactically like in the reverse fixture in the same way that Bruce did.

I don't think he got done tactically. Leicester's tactics were simple, one and two touch passes, drag us around, play it over our defence to a runner when we're out of position. They're just really good at that and the players got sucked in constantly.

Think Wilder could have done something about it but when the players are that disconnected from each other, it was never going to happen.

Thought he was bit over the top but I like it. You can tell it hurts him and I'm glad we've got a manager who won't accept anything less than the best from his team. Feel like it's my job as a fan to back the lads on the pitch (if I could get in a ground at least...) and the manager's job to kick them up the backside. At least, that's how it should be. It's not how we've had it in the recent past managers.

Calls it 100%.

A dog shit performance and aside from Hendo, Norwood and maybe Sharp, we were all over the fucking place.

Shots at one or 2 players in there for sure.

They don't let us down very often, and for that reason whenever they do, it feels like a real downer. Normally they respond well, so let's see.

We go again.

I saw a gulf in quality, not effort.

Questioning their effort is unfair imo.
Two years ago we played Hull on a Friday night, Didn't show up and got battered. Tonight felt like a re-run. We were mentally drained and got picked off by a good team who showed up in spades. I'm not really upset and Chris has enough credit in the tank with the players that we'll all get over this. 2 games to go

My two penneth.

Overly harsh on them in the public domain. Crossed a line tonight did our Chris and let his emotions overrule his professionalism. A rare thing. Probably realises Europe looking a bit beyond us right now and is rightly a bit miffed about it.He will reflect on that in the morning with some regret.

Behind closed doors, absolutely fine. Give em the hairdryer if you must.

Pundits have been describing them that way all season. He expects a reaction from them when he says that. Other than Hendo he didn’t name names but he gave the who squad a lashing. He did it up at Hull.

There is a gulf in quality between us & Chelsea but that didn't prevent our players putting in a shift !

Why don't you stick to your own team ?

You don't seem to know much about the Blades.

If you'd like to learn about us , go and listen to Wilder's postmatch comments.

Us Blades know what we are and by what means we've achieved massively beyond our paper quality this season.

I know I understand that but pundits and the manager you work for is a totally different kettle of fish for me. I understand trying to get a reaction out of the players and I hope it works like i said i can see his frustration as i think we all are right now that's not whats in question i just think its overly harsh to say they are league 1 quality. But I am not a football manager for a reason so let's hope wilder has this right and gets them firing for the last games of the season.

Fuck that, give them the hairdryer in public, why not!? Its all good and well giving them what for in the dressing room but if the fans don't know they've had a bollocking then what's the point? I love Wilder for saying it how it is instead of all this "heart and intensity" bollocks and excuses that other managers usually come out with. Also think he's hinted at some twats in the dressing room in that interview, can see Lundstram and Mousset being moved on in the summer. If they think they're bigger than the club then fuck em

Last time he was this fucked off was Hull two years ago.
Just said the same somewhere. We looked fucked that night and the same tonight. Hoping for a bounce back on Monday. We stuffed Reading 1-3 in the next game.

My main memory of the Reading game was I watched it on my work mobile phone on a train back from London. I thought I was on wifi until IT rang me to ask why my data usage has gone mental that month - oops. That and Duffy's goal.

The issue is that we haven't got the quality that Leicester have. So we need to match their effort and desire which we didn't do tonight. We need 2 or 3 quality signings. Whether we have the money to do that is doubtful

Think he should have laid into his own performance to be honest, constant high balls to the strikers in the first half were never going to be effective, but instead of getting McGoldrick to drop deeper and pass to feet a bit, he's hauled off along with Osborn who was the only one doing anything in the first half.

After the needlessly panicky half time changes, he then hauls of Basham as soon as he dares to make a forward run and we're stuck with a kamikaze back four as though we're desperately chasing the game in the last 10 minutes rather than having most of the second half to play

Its fair enough for him to have a bit of a dig at the players, but he got it wrong tonight himself

Don’t mind it at all that.
We’ve come to expect that the maximum effort is there at the very least and that wasn’t the case I don’t think. Deano aside we we’re just crap. Gave it away. Shirked tackles. Didn’t even look to trouble them.

sometimes they need a dressing down in public. He did it with Deano after the home game against Liverpool and he went on a great run after that.

It will be interesting to see how the players react to that. I usually think it’s wrong to be so harsh in public, that’s for behind closed doors.
It’s not unusual for 1 or 2 to be off form but how can it be that every player is below par. I just hope they react in a good way because if I was a player I’d be raging on hearing that abuse in public.

You may be right, because he has done this before and backtracked slightly in the next interview.

I like his honesty though. It's a rare and beautiful thing.
