Being 2nd in the Championship doesn’t feel right when I watch us play. I just don’t get it. Does anyone else feel that we never look dominant in games or inconsistent? It just worries me because if we go up there’s no doubt in my mind that we will just finish 20th and go straight back down to the championship again, in an even worse state with players wanting to leave and not play championship football such as Ndiaye, Anel.

I’d also like to say I think Hecky is nowhere near ready for premier league level and doesn’t have what it takes to drive us forward. Part of this is his decisions with substitutions and other factors as well.

I am open to give Hecky a chance though first few months if we do go up and hopefully he can be the right man for us as he’s great with young talent and spotting it too instead of Wilder (23.5m Brewster) ⚔️⚔️.

I’d like to hear some opinions, blades fans? (This post wasn’t meant to offend anyone or slate anyone at the club but we need to be honest with ourselves if we want to be the best team we can be)
Are you Fallowfield on his burner account? You do post some... ropey topics.

Just wrong night fella, don’t worry about that now. If you start to worry about shit like that now after a brilliant night at lane of just stop watching.

What a strange post at 1 minute before kick off:
Does anyone else feel that we never look dominant in games or inconsistent?
What? We never look dominant or we never look inconsistent. Both? Neither? I'm lost.
It just worries me because if we go up there’s no doubt in my mind that we will just finish 20th and go straight back down to the championship again, in an even worse state with players wanting to leave and not play championship football such as Ndiaye, Anel.
In an even worse state than what? Being second in the League with fantastic team spirit, some great players, and every chance of promotion.

Didn't we win a few games when he was in charge in the Premier League?
This post wasn’t meant to offend anyone
I couldn't work out if I was offended because I didn't have a fucking clue what you were on about.

Strange to post this 1 minute prior to kick-off in an FA cup 5th round game against a team 4th in the premier league. Looks even stanger, now we've beaten them to make the 1/4 finals.

If we go up, I'd expect us to come back down next season but the club needs to give a young manager some funds to improve and have a go.

I understand what you are getting at. In the end, we may not have much choice. Spurs was a cup game and all players raised their performances to match. Even me being an optimist, can’t see us doing that in PL every week.
The bonus is, we do have the squad to keep us up, if we get decent loan players next season. We won’t get all the PL money up front to spend on players, even if we get a new owner.

Maybe it is time to invest in infrastructure for the future this time? This squad has it in them to avoid relegation if we remain well managed on a limited budget. Maybe two good permane t signings and hope all the loans work out?

Avoid relegation next season, and build slowly from there! :optimist:

Posted 1minute before we kicked off in a FA Cup RD of 16 match... which we ended up winning

All those who wondered where Fallowfield s dad was!!! Here s the proof.
All this thread needs is a meme of Darth Vader saying 'Fallowfield, I am your father'

William Carey - I have just realised how old (young) you are after checking out your Vlog at Blackpool.
I mean this in the nicest possible way - if you think this is bad, you've got nowt to come pal.

However, this is a mental trait that has been creeping into our fanbase over the last few years. When did our fanbase become so entitled?
Sheffield United is a club that, for most (all) living people's lives have been a run-of-the-mill football club that occasionally flirts with success. When that success comes, we need to embrace it, not whinge that it's not better.

I remember at Wembley when we lost to Hull in the FA Cup semi. My nephew next to me burst in to tears, uncontrollable crying, he was 9!
Then his dad said some words to him that I'll never ever forget - "Stop crying and applaud the team. This is the best you'll ever get. If you don't like this, go and support another club!"

Never a truer word spoken!

I occasionally work at Norwich City FC . They have invested the Prem money into their infrastructure. Their training facilities and academy are state of the art and they hope this will return on their investment for years to come

When you compare Sheffield United to 95% of other clubs in the professional game and look back over our history, you will realize how lucky you are to support this great club. It’s never boring from dips down to the bottom division, challenging for Europe. Cup semi finals, wacky owners. Overlapping center backs, Wilder, Warnock. The only time goal line technology didn’t work. Not winning in the first 16 league games but comfortably staying up. The first premier league goal. Ched Evans. And so much more. Enjoy the ride it’s never dull

You’re repeating an observation regards our style of play under Hecky.

When Wilder was manager we had decent spells where we used to dominate the centre circle area and looked really good.
However Wilder used to sometimes say “we played really well in the middle third”
”but football is often about the small details in the defending and attacking thirds’

Lets be honest here….under Hecky we’re nearly always quite poor in the middle third.
Even in the Championship theres a pattern where we always appear to have less numbers in midfield because we struggle to dominate it.

However as shown with the XG data, almost every match, although the defence are often under alot of pressure
Fodderingham rarely has much to do. Also although we have spells where we don’t look good, we always seem to create plenty of goal scoring chances.

I would imagine next season…the Spurs game will be quite typical…..Spurs never looked like scoring..we’ll be like a poor man’s Athletico Madrid.
Park the bus in some matches, so the opposition struggle to create a chance then we knick a goal or 2 on the break.

😂 I’m not arsed mate honestly I think everyone needs to voice their opinion it’s a forum, nobody doesn’t have the right to say their part
Agree with much of what you say WC.
Start of the season we played and looked like a team GETTING promotion. Last 15 games or so we look like a team that grinds out results and COULD be promoted.
Has for Hecky, Jack and Stuart McCall, yep, if we go up give them every chance in the Premier League but to be honest as a management team I think they will come up short.

Exactly my point

If Hecky and co. come up short whilst gaining promotion despite all the off field problems and little or no support from the board, what would they have to do to please?
who would you suggest as an alternative?

'Give them every chance' but talk about getting shut after we've just beaten 4th place PL.
Nice.

Exactly my point
How will you feel if we get relegated to L2?
It happens and is part of the football rollercoaster we have signed up to.
Life isn't going to be about steamrollering to promotion every year. We are 7 points clear in an auto spot, and have just beaten Spurs well. This should be a highlight period to remember. If this doesn't feel good I'd suggest a new hobby.

So posting this was the main thing on your mind just one minute before we kicked off against the team lying 4th in the Premier League last night? I can see why you would post it then but I guess the result and performance really screwed things up for you. Never mind. ;)

Our results are good but our form has been poor.

Mind you we were good last night.

Not sure what the OP was expecting given we were playing Spurs with 8 changes. They might not have been great, but they were hardly Matlock Town

1. Clearly a pig. 2. Another one for the ignore list.

If someone told you we would be 4 points clear of automatic promotion in September with 10 games to go you would have thought that they was having you on. So let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. Hecky has done a fantastic job for us. Stop fucking moaning and creating panic threads the minute after full time.
🥴🥴

This thread posted couple minutes before spurs and you posted the above yesterday.
