Boro have played and won is making the gap 4 PTS.

Essentially had we lost to Millwall in the cup we might have beat Reading and be still 7 clear and feeling slightly less tense.

When you look at the gap since the restart we gained ground on 3rd place consistently as we kept winning and the rest didn't.

However the gap to Boro was consistently 10-11 points. As they too were winning.

They have done excellently well to keep this form going. I'd be surprised if they won every match though. So it will depend on how many they drop.

We need to pick ourselves up. We've got more tough matches before the end run in where it appears to get easier.

In truth none of them are gonna be easy and the same goes for Boro.

One game at a time, plenty more twists to go. Nobody would have bet on Wigan beating Leeds at Elland Road in 2019. Middlesbrough look good but they will have their off days.
I'm not so sure they will momentum is a wonderful thing.
I'm clinging to the small hope of injuries to Akpom and Archer.

Lots of variables yet.

Boro are on a roll but are probably playing with a level of freedom with the view that they expect the Play Offs at worst so can just have a go at chasing us down.

It wouldn't be the first time that once a team closes the gap the pressure shifts a little.

Having to have two games v Wrexham didn't help nor did Wednesday kick off followed by Saturday lunch time. Players looked shattered. Just before their 3rd Berge had the ball on the edge of their box and looked so knackered he could barely kick it 🤷‍♂️

Plenty of games to go owt can happen. like a roller coaster up or down.
For us Blades, it will be up. don,t panic Mainwaring.

But then aren't their final games harder and ours easier?

End of the day, it's a marathon not a sprint.
good point apart from burnley away which will be a free hit anyway our last 6/7 games all look winnable so all might not be lost if boro get to us in the next few weeks yes boro have an easier march than us on paper but they will be playing teams scrapping for survival at the bottom of the championship

We had a 12 pt buffer, which is what you need just in case you have a few bad results & that buffer has protected us, and still left us with a 4pt buffer with a game in hand
We’re still on target to get promoted, we just have to regroup and go again & take those losses as the kick up the arse we needed

We are still the same team with the same abilities

Difference is that Boro will be facing those tough games with a mindset of going for the win. Whereas, we go into games apparently not wanting to lose and can’t defend well enough.

Boro’s next 5 games are ‘easier’ than ours..could be the momentum they need.

Agree….our final 6 games are all quite easy and winnable. However never under estimate what pressure can do to a player. So those easy matches might end up being tough.
