Agree, a number of posters, myself included, were of the opinion at the start of the season that unless the board made some serious investment and brought in players, irrespective of shipping some out first, it could take NA two seasons to sort us out.

If that doesn't happen soon, another season in L1.

Sacking managers doesn't work, Blades should realise that more than most and giving Adkins a good run at it with his CV is sensible.
However as previously pointed out we're building a new team next season so let's pray it's not in the third.

As a side line to the contract situations has anyone thought why should the players bust a gut for promotion when that would ensure them being dumped when another season is this league would give them a better chance of a contract extension?

He is right, but sadly with every year that passes, it's an ever decreasing circle - the ability of the players wanting to come to us decreases slightly, as does the ability and the pull of the manager we appoint after we've sacked the previous one. Finally we have someone with a great track record in NA - but I feel he's our last chance at a "name" for us in this division; I fear if we don't go up this season and don't look like it next, NA will be gone and we truly will become an "established" club in this division, battling with all the other teams in the league for the same players.

Rodders , thats being unfair on Port Valve . The issue is , like under Clough , we are too predictable , and even average sides , managers , in this league , know how to deal with our threats , and out manoeuvre us.

We are a established club in this division , not we will become one .

Adkins now knows what it is like managing SUFC , but next season , with a complete clear out of playing staff , will be the season for promotion . It can be acheived this season , but we have to get the loan players in . I can see Adkins sitting down with the board for a heart to heart , next week , because like it or like it not , the players he has inherited are starting to make him look a poor manager , and up to date , on the road to failure , if promotion this season was the aim / task./ remit set .

Just watched last half hour of Charton v Fulham

We really are miles off that standard big gulf between L1 and Championship
