How long do we consider a transition period to be?

I guess this needs to be considered. You can't use it as a excuse because when you watch your team as we did on Saturday failing to even do the basics right then you can't excuse that, you can only put it down as poor individual performances and overall a poor team performance.

Weir came in and wiped all previous tactics off the wipeboards in the changing rooms and up and the training ground, he tells players he doesn't want them playing in same style as they did previously and tells players to forget previous individual roles as he wants them all to do something a little different........or so that is how it looked to be as a spectator.

This knocks players off pedestals, puts players out of comfort zones and in turn leads to players under performing and as a whole under achieving.......

In comes Clough...........

Forget what Weir tried to do with you let's strip it all back again, let's wipe the wipeboards clean, let's get rid of all previous formations, tactics, individual and team roles. Back to square one!

Do we have to take this into consideration?

We can't use it as an excuse because performances haven't been up to scratch but should we consider this?

He probably needs a 12 month period before he can settle into the role, get his own players in and understand the club structure more.

I'd like to think that by winter 2014 we'll be looking like play-off material.

Personally, I am not willing to tolerate any more transitions or excuses. However bad people think this team is there should be no excuse for it's current position. It also might sound harsh but N.I.G.E.L does not get any grace from me. Morgan got this team back to basics and Nigel has ripped it apart with the most bizarre team selection on Saturday. Now is not the time to find out whether a left back can play central midfield. A midfield with no natural balance isn't hard to beat as we are finding.

Please please please back to basics (and no I don't think I should be expect to come and support any old team that the manager puts out)

No, it's football a simple game. If we were fielding 11 new players then possibly, but we aren't. What we are fielding are players in wrong positions and whilst the man in charge persists with this he deserves to be criticised.

I don't buy all this I'm still assessing the squad rubbish either, he's been here 4 weeks played 4 games surely by now he must have some sort of Idea? If not I'll give I have a clue for him, get McGinn in midfield.

We ain't got time to fuck about, we need points now, 4 of the next 7 are against teams around us we need to beat them not use them to "assess" the squad.

I've said before, Cloughie needs time.

He said tonight that we have 28 players in the squad! This is a team that is supposedly working within a wage structure and cutting its cloth accordingly. He talked tonight about playing a practice match where 6 players are not even able to get involved. It's not really great for morale when there are players in a squad who can't get involved.

Clough wants to bring the squad down to 18-19 players and then top the rest up with lads from the development squad, so much of this work isn't going to happen until at least January. And that's just moving players out, there will be players that he wants to bring in too.

In the meantime it's a papering over the cracks exercise. Getting the players as fit as possible and working within the 4-4-2 system which were playing
