¡No Pasarán!
I'm liking this division. Great entertainment from both sides, yet it seems if United turn it on and the fans get behind them, the opposition can't handle it.
Walsall were a good side. A bit of pace, good running from midfield and dangerous on the break. They could have easily been 3-0 up, home and hosed. But when United finally got it going and scored a goal, there was no stopping them. That is, until nerves kicked in for a chaotic finish... It really could have been 5-all.
After years of dirge, we seem to be in for some thrills and spills. Still not convinced we're promotion material, but there is a chance.
Ratings:
Simmo - 4 - Made one of the best saves I've ever seen, followed by a series of clangers. Bonkers goalie.
Lecs - 6 - Good game. Needs to cross when he gets the chance and cut out the dozey moments, but he's so much better value than last year's left backs. Better than Nos at a tenth the cost.
Lowton - 7 - A great attacking option, vital goal.
McGuire - 6 - Another steady show.
Collins - 6 - Looks so much happier in this league. The odd decent surge forward too.
M-L - 4 - Not in the game enough. Needs to exploit his pace more.
Quinn - 7 - Seemed to have a roving role. The odd bad ball, but makes things happen.
McDonald - 4 - Hardly got in the game, got injured and subbed.
Monty - 6 - Some great defensive covering in the first half. Decent stuff in the second.
Cress - 6 - Never won a header but looks twice as fit as last year and scored the pen.
Slew - 6 - Worked hard in the second half. Little service in the first.
Subs:
Willo - Came on and made the difference with a fabulous goal and touch of quality on the ball.
Doyle - Solid. Got more involved than McDonald.
