Wilder has changed and not for the better. Looking at how he dressed just makes him look so big headed. He has a very high opinion of himself.
Have to say I thought the same thing.
If there was any truth in him jumping ship with a large pay-off, flaunting it on your return doesn't go down well.
I don't mind admitting a loving smile came onto my face when the camera shifted from him and his dandy outfit to a down-to-earth, hard-working, tactically astute, loveable track-suited Hecky!

Said similar during the game.

Be interesting to hear in later years what some have to say about this period.

I know for a fact one prominent player whom I won't name wasn't that happy with CW.

Did some feel disappointed the way he left when the chips were down for the first time, did some of his comments feel disrespectful towards the end...?

Who knows. It definitely looked like there was a bit more fire in the belly than normal though.
Did anyone see heckys post match interview? He was hinting a few things about wilder n how it fi ished for him here

Don’t know if some of the team were intent on impressing Wilder or whether they wanted to prove a point but, either way, he definitely inspired them. The work rate was incredible, particularly coming on the back of the Forest game and its late disappointment.

More of the same for the rest of the season please!!
Can we get this post pinned on the dressing room wall?

Only heard a brief interview with Giddings I think on Twitter.

I'll see if I can find the press conference.

I was waiting for something along the lines of "these were a Premier League team last season with £20 mil plus players on big wages and parachute payments to back them up and we just can't compete with that" and all that bollocks.

But fair play, he recognised that we we're just simply the better side on the night. Maybe not just on the night. I wouldn't fear them in a play-off setting at BDTBL either. Very surprised at how poor they were. It'll really have hurt him, that.

"I have said all along they have some top players that really should be pushing Fulham to get out the division and they are showing it now."

Absolutely incredible quote from a bloke who said the opposite to those same players all last season ( before he walked out on them )

If he really believes that then why on earth did he leave

He said on local radio that tactics played no part at all.

I disagree. We did a number on them imho.

Anyone notice Norwood after the first goal? He went round every player to say/gesture “keep this up - don’t slow down”.

No but I noticed Billy laying into him after another terrible set piece kick :)

After ditching us like he did.
The players were really up for it.
I reckon the players felt he ran out on them when the chips were down.
He lost a lot of respect from me and others when he went out the back door and walked away with a wedge
Deserved his fucking wedge, man 🤦‍♂️

Middlesbrough boss Chris Wilder told BBC Radio Tees:

"It was a little bit more than painful. It was a really poor performance from us.

"It wasn't a tactical battle, they just out-performed us individually. There are no positives for us tonight.

"I'm quite shocked how poor the players were, there's no hiding place. I've got no complaints about the result.

"I thought we'd trained really well and I got a good vibe from the players before the game. I didn't expect us to play in that manner. It's a real eye-opener."

He’s not the only one, cheating twat. The number of times he left one in or tried to stamp etc for someone so eager to chuck himself down.
Agreed. He looked a horrible little shit. I’ve only seen glimpses of him at Brighton but thought he was supposed to be diminutive and skilful whilst being direct. He looked overweight and a with poisonous attitude.

It's on utds YouTube channel, he was sayin maybe there's things what went off at the end he didn't like but when he retires he, ll b able to look back on his tenure with pride or along those lines

How about he needed an image change, he was struggling to find work and was being overlooked for jobs well within his capability’s. You only had to read Twitter and the fans of the clubs he was linked with, “we don’t want that old dinosaur with his long ball” was the sort of rubbish spouted by people who clearly have never watched his football, not by all of them but enough.

Why? Because he’s a mid 50s straight talking Yorkshireman who stands on the side of the pitch with a tracksuit on barking out the orders. You get stereotyped, it is very hard to lose a label once you have it. He still has ambitions of working higher up, he clearly needed to reinvent himself and have an image change. Let’s be right here if his name was Christoph Wilderson from Salzburg or wherever, what he achieved he would of been snapped up soon as he left us, but he’s Chris from Sheffield, top half of the Premiership want a certain image as their manager, he didn’t fit the bill so he rightly has gone for an image change because he’s certainly good enough to manage clubs higher up. But let’s me honest here, he had a pair of shoes and some trousers on, still had his trusted body warmer on that he always wore with us under his coat, no big deal.

Don’t get the hate he gets, walked away with some money? He deserves every fucking penny of it. Some people have very short memories and have forgot the years stuck in League 1, would we still be stuck in league 1 now if he never came? Probably, and we would not have been watching the masterclass from his signings in the Championship last night. It’s all extremely weird to me how people pounce on our greatest manager in decades for anything, even wearing shoes and trousers.

He’s gone, but I wish him every success wherever he goes because he brightened all out lives up and made them better.

Great touch for him to stand in the tunnel while we did our lap of honours and wait to shake everyone of our players hands. Top man Chris.

Cue the “alright Chris turn it in” witty and hilarious posts.

We are an odd bunch as a fan base. Seems to be a level of antipathy for every Blades manager since John Harris, regardless of how well they did, with the exception of Dave Bassett (who seems to get a free pass despite the poor last couple of seasons and his comments about a “merger” in later years).

Can’t imagine it anywhere else.

Reality is that Wilder was exceptional and gave us some fantastic years but the way he left was bound to leave a sour taste for some.

Whatever the circumstances, he left as soon as the going got tough. He was saying 'I can't do this anymore' against Palace.

Is what it is.

How fired up the players were and their reaction at the end told a story for me.

BTW is there any Blades TV footage of Wilder and our players in the tunnel, pre or post match?

There will be but doubt we will see it.

Wilder is the best manager we’ve had since Harris. Loved his time with us but just stood there impassively last night. Can’t back the opposition manager when he’s about to play United. Not the right time for me. I’d buy him a pint and shake his hand if I met him in a pub but he chose to walk away from us and we move on. No animosity towards a Blades legend but he manages Middlesbrough now.

Norwood is gay?
Tbf though, if I was I wouldn't do that little surrender monkey. And if I did I'd make him say "you're league 1" every time I thrust into him.
Chimpy little shit.
😂😂😂😂

Sat on a train and just spat pit mi pasty - ffs

They simply knew exactly what it means to Wilder and they knew he’d really want to win it. We weren’t going to lie down and take it.

Fought for that and every player bang up for it.

Looked like we expected a typical Wilder reaction second half and we just didn’t let them have a second on the ball. We rattled them and but for a 5-10 min spell at the end of the first half they were never in it.

Billy typified the attitude tonight with that moment on halfway with Peltier. Right in front of Wilder as well.

I only had the Boro comms on my stream. To be fair they were very complimentary about us and also said that was the worst performance under Wilder.

Out fought them, out played them and just out classed them tonight.

They’ll do us in the play off final though
Only if they make the final !

Missus says she's seen something.

I just hoped last night when he shot down the tunnel he'd wait and shake our players hands outside the dressing room.

He did, waited there while we did our usual lap of honour, waited the whole time and shook every players hand when they did come in. There is a video on official Twitter of Billy when he goes in the tunnel, Wilder & Knilly both there to greet him.

Glad to hear 👍

Egan booting Conolly all over Bramall Lane looked personal to me. I got the feeling he doesn't like the little fucker.
I was pissing myself at that, just kept going through the back of him 😂 how he didn’t get booked is beyond me

Where? I’ve seen a video, but certainly not of Knill and Wilder being there to greet the players
