That Jason Holt Thing

We never lost an home leg as well.

But we have got a blight on your 100% Bristol City at home 87/88 we drew 1-1 and didn't qualify.

It's a good point Les. I don't count that as it was a completely different format (i.e. we "qualified" by being relegated in effect).

Was there actually a Wembley final or was that play off the last game (i.e they were promoted that night)? I can only remember us going down, although I'm fairly sure we got promoted at their place the season after so perhaps they didn't go up after all. Buggered if I can remember now.

They weren't promoted that night, they went through to a final and lost it, but I have no idea where that was played, I'm pretty sure Wembley became the venue a few years down the line. We did indeed officially get promoted at their ground the season after, although in reality we were as good as up by then due to a vastly superior GD to Port Vale.

Only if the full house is patient and supportive. If certain elements get on the players backs if we are not 2-0 up then I'd rather both legs away from home.

I agree. It will be hard to win an away match hopping around with only 1 leg, :o)

"If we do win the play-offs I have no doubt it will be Jason Holt scoring the winning goal. He's exactly the kind of midfielder we've missed this season."

For months I've had it in my mind, Murphy leaving the opposing defence for dead to score the clincher late on in the PO Final :)

Funny that, cos I've thought for ages that either James Wallace or Dominic Calvert-Lewin will score for us IF we were to win the PO Final.

Whoever does it (IF someone does) will be automatically entered in The Hall of Fame, declared a Lane Legend and have hero status for ever and ever. Amen.

It was a 2 leg final. They lost to Walsall.

The first wembley finals were in 1990.

Listening to commentary, you only hear Holt's name when he's scoring.
Tbf the games iv'e listened to this season which isn't many have mostly been talking about Keith Edwards' previous happenings instead of commentating on the game itself, RS has been really poor imo. The amount of times you hear just the goalscorers name and don't know what happened in the build up is quite a lot really, i'm just glad i don't listen too much.

Ideally we'd finish 4th but that would take a massive effort and come at a cost, even then we might not make it.

If we stagger into fourth with bodies littering the treatment room it doesn't really matter what the stats say.

We might be up against it in 5th or 6th but we might be less up against it than if we'd made sacrifices for fourth.

These are judgment calls.

They can be criticised either way.

In his interviews Clough constantly focuses on players being fit, I think he's rightly prioritising that over League position.
thats exactly as i see it mr foulkes we are just as likely to beat teams on there own patch as at bramall lane our stats from this season prove that we can do it either way lets just get over the line and have a good compliment of players to choose from. All 3 other teams are going to have to scrap it out to the end swindon ,mk for automatic and the other one fighting it out for final spot in the play offs with the pack.If we make it with a few games to spare that will give us an advantage against whoever we play be it home 1st leg or not.

Exactly my thoughts too!
