That Fookin Ref!

Typical Mr D'Urso. Rubbish linesman on the John Street side too.

My throat hurts.

I thought he was very poor for both teams. How the hell does he get a game at this level

For once I think we may have a unanimous forum, with all agreeing the ref was terrible.

His poor decisions angered the crowd which boosted our vocal support for the team and it seemed to inspire the team to find the extra 10%

He denied them a certain penalty in my opinion. We'll see later on if I'm right but I'm sure it was a pen. In general though, it was the D'urso show.

bollox ..................... Mr D'urso was the best ref we've had for years ! ;)

If cheap as chips was a ref he'd be D'urso.

Did look a penalty on Aliardiere but I would argue that it also looked a penalty on Cresswell in front of the Kop and for the first half hand ball by Willo Flood. Evened out on big decisions.

In terms of general refereeing, absolutely awful. Should never get a job above Sunday League where he'd get chinned. But it did rile the Blades fans to have a shout and make some noise just before the goal.

Couldn't agree more Silent. In a poor first half, the decison to book Quinn and the subsequent booking early in the second half of Williamson when he appeared to be the victim stoked the crowd up, at a time when the football on the pitch certainly couldn't.

I commented to my Dad at the time that it is often something like that which raises the support and gives us the momentum to go on and win games which are there for the taking.

Some good performances today, from the Back 4 I thought the two centre backs were strong and solid, Taylor put in one of only two decent crosses all match - which led to the goal - and Walker made a couple of outstanding tackles in the first half.

Evans was unlucky to be taken off as he had improved as the game wore on, but the contribution and influence of Camara was significant.

The ref didn't book Quinn. It was O'Neil although it did look like he gave it to Quinn. Maybe it all heped as the crowd responded to the ref and got rag up, then we played a little bit of nice football and scored.

Quinny was booked as well.

He booked Quinn as well didn't he ?

Terrible referee, one of the worst I can remember (if not - the worst!). In the first half one of the Middlesbrough players walked up to Quinn and put his head into Quinn's face. If Quinn had been anything like half the Premier League players he'd have gone down and got the guy sent off. He didn't go down, he didn't retaliate or play up to the provocation, he just stood there not doing a damn thing. I was speechless when the referee booked him.

It didn't improve, a couple more of our players got booked for being on the receiving end of a foul! He overruled the linesman on the South Stand a couple of times when the decision was correct, he consistently let the Middlesbrough players climb all the over the backs of our forwards, he booked one of our players for a minor tackle seconds after letting play go on for a far worse tackle from one of their players, he was consistently awful and gave them everything (except the pen, which I'm not yet convinced was a pen, we'll see on the highlights I hope).

We were playing 13 men today (with the John St linesman being the 13th).

As well as piss-poor decisions he seemed to be in the way an awful lot blocking potential passes

Summed up by denying a hand ball shout, which he said hit the player on his chin!!! What????? Shocking referee, and we've had some bad uns this season.

Blackwell to the linesman on our side: "D'Urso is fucking atrocious".

Linesman: /rueful laugh "I can't do owt about it, can I?"

The funniest was a handball out on the touch line on JS. The ball was about waist high. He shouted play on indicating the ball had hit the players chin!

Right above it in the library. Not a penalty, although I have seen them given...
I was directly in line in John Street and it never was a penalty.

I did ask our friends who sat in the South stand exactly opposite from us and they thought the same.

Anyone would of thought it was the football shows featured game the way he went off.

EDIT: seeing it again I've seen them given.

If an advantage turns out not to be an advantage the ref can bring it back right?

So why did he play an advantage in the box and not bring play back and give us a pen when camara hit the post?

Styles would of....

I can only wonder why D'Urso didn't give it then... it would've been on a par with a number of his decisions today.

How many times were they allowed to nick twenty yards on a throw in too... yet as soon as United shaped to take one from exactly where the ball went out, that dopey chuff had got his whistle in his mouth trying to move our men back!?

Wednesday fans don't like him either: Petition to sack Andy D'Urso

Dingles don't particularly like him either, after that game at Oakwell the other year.

Where was the problem Rachy?

Harper only got took down after the ball, what's wrong with that? we didn't get any other free kicks in that situation?

In fact, we should think ourselves lucky that young James wasn't booked for it.

No idea, I thought he was all one way but then again I do have my Blades specs on during the game.

Fuck him anyway we won and I also hold him responsible for us not putting on a good performance. Its next to impossible when the the ref is stopping the game and giving you nothing all game.

Well the majority of the Kop thought it was a pen, and if it wasn't a foul why did he put his hands up to show an advantage?

If play doesn't turn out to be an advantage anywhere else on the pitch it gets brought back, surely the same rule should apply in the box?

To be fair the majority of the Kop would scream for a penalty if someone fell over in the area regardless of what actually happened on the pitch.

ummm... I was being sarcastic :D

Which you'd have noticed had you seen me stood up just after the incident laying into the linesman & Mr D'Urso yet again :D

Sorry Foxy I noticed after I re-read it.

You know how refs wind me up. He was the worst I've seen in a long time today though.

Having seen it again, Harper was actually fouled just outside the box before Camara hit the post.
