It's early days and may go all horribly wrong, but finally for the first time since NW I can go to The Lane with some optimism, sing my heart out amongst a decent atmosphere and see the players putting a decent shift in. We're playing good passing at a decent tempo, giving our next crop of youngsters a good go and seeing a team develop.

For chuff's sake McCabe, back DW and keep Monty and Quinn. A little bit of emotional connection is creeping back slowly but surely, now's the time to build on it.

the come back last night was great only had we did this last season.

In the interests of balance, and not wanting to piss on anyones chips, but Championship opposition would have buried us last night.

What? You never went to the Lane with optimism in the 2008/2009 season when we were dispatching team after team with relative ease on our way to a 3rd place finish?

SOME Championship opposition Bob. As Brighton and Southampton are demonstrating the gap is negligible in relation to a lot of teams. This Blades team would not be relegated from the Championship. It includes some poor teams, just like last season when we were one of them.

Teams end up where they deserve to be, and that includes us, and other teams that people could say they are too big to be in the Division they are in, but if you don't do it on the pitch then end up where you deserve to be.

Brighton look very comfortable tonight.

Cracking win at Cardiff for us.:):):):)

I think most opposition in the higher league would have made us pay for Lowton having a stinker, and Simmo dropping crosses at strikers feet.

Only just seen the highlights. Simmo looks like he's been storing his gloves in a large vat of I Can't Believe It's Not Butter. Or butter.

For the first 55 minutes against Walsall our tempo was really poor, slow and with poor movement. It's good to see Quinn taking more responsibility nowadays, but in the first half he kept coming deep centrally to pick up the ball from the defence. When we had a deep playing playmaker type in McDonald partnered by a ball winner in Monty, neither of whom made many forward off the ball runs, this meant we often had three midfielders centrally basically not making forward runs. This isolated the forwards, whose runs were mostly in vain because of our lack of tempo and urgency.

We improved second half, but we mustn't kid ourselves to think that our slightly better class of players will mean we can carve teams open with slow possession football and poor movement.

That's spot on to how we saw it. Doyle and Willo completely changed the tempo of our play.

Big test tomorrow - away from home to a team that can get goals.
Could be under the cosh for a while so need to be tighter in defence and also trust that Simmo has wiped the butter from his gloves from Tuesday night.

Tranny have two suspended but it's going to be a tough one I think.
Porter may be fit but McDonald looks unlikely to start. Guess Willo will come in based on his performance Tuesday night.

Will need Nathaniel (Tweeting thumbs) Mendes-Laing to turn some counter attacks into chances.
If we nick one early I think we can go on to win by a couple - if not will be tight to the end.
