*not having a dig at Leon, another player who was brilliant for us and showed he is a much better player than given credit for. In fact, if Didz had his finishing ability, what a player that would be!

His finishing ability before his contract renewal.

One of my all time favourite players.

Might be a logical end to his time here, sadly.

But perhaps it might be appropriate to agree a reduced wage contract. Could suit all parties, particularly with scope for a decent amount of game time if we're still in the Championship next season

Not to mention his dressing room influence.

Massive shame, we did well to get 3 and a bit seasons out of someone who came as a crock. Great footballer and nice bloke. GLTTL after this season.

Never forget that second goal against Brentford on the night we managed to win 2-0 with ten men for an hour, playing into the teeth of a hurricane second half and less than 20% possession, the night a lot of us really began to belive it was on that season.

Genuinely loved that game, one of my best memories of being a Blade- genuinely heroic defensive performance, and brave, still going with 2 up front. Not just McGoldrick, JOC was ridiculous that night, and even put in the sliding block challenge that burst the ball. God, only 3 years ago and makes you go all misty eyed....

I often mark the Boxing day game with Derby as a turning point that season, the first time we beat one of our promotion contenders in one of my favourite ever home games, however I forgot about this one and how good it was.

We started well, scored the penno and then Madine was an absolute idiot. I remember raging about it because of all the teams you don't want to go down to 10 against, it was move the ball fast on the deck and keep possesion Brentford.

That second half when they hit the woodwork and Hendo pulled off some pearlers was one of the hardest watches ever, which meant the mix of celebration and relief when Didzy bagged was even more intense. Great night and that, along with his lob in that Derby game, the strike away to Hull and finally bagging in the Prem against Chelsea (albeit robbed of being there to see it) are standout moments. Also remember when we 'forgot the maths' against Ipswich, he went up to their fans after celebrations and they held him in similar high esteem. A true gent and proper baller.

Well in Dids, hope to see you in a Blades shirt again.

Didzy's Brace at Hull....
When the blades knew we could get an auto.....
😍

Fantastic servant for the club and genius signing, but he hasn’t been the same this season. He was player of the season for me last year, but if we go up, the fat lady maybe clearing her throat on this one soon. It’s a big if though.

One of my favourite ever games at the Lane that.

I am in the don't write him off yet category. If we are still in the championship next year he could be a key player, not to play every week but a great player to bring on. Be good for someone like Jebbison etc to learn from too. Didzy has nothing to prove and would hate to see him have to drop dwon to the lower diivisions. He is a lovely player to watch and I am sure he would love to stay if he can.

Sorry if this upsets a few people but I can't see the Prince allowing a new contract with the current injury and age.

We've had great memories and he's been a good player for the club, but also remember the clubs been good to him, playing in a squad that got him to the Premier league, and the goals he scored whilst there are the stuff of fairytales and definately stories for the grandchildren, released by Ipswich on a free and scoring in the Premier league 3 years later.. He couldn't dream that up..

I wish him all the luck, we at least owe him his medical costs and rehabilitation, but I really don't see Prince authorising a contract, he's matter of fact where the money is concerned..

Hearts are ruling heads for a few here and there's no shame in those showing good will, he was good player on his day but never consistent in front of goal..

We most likely won't see him in the shirt again, good luck and thanks Didsy..

Derby fans 1st view of the rolls today , your going to have to do better David !!!!!

-Loving McGoldrick, he's everywhere.
-McGoldrick looks the mutts nuts.
-McGoldrick is such an elegant player. Really looking forward to seeing him link midfield and attack this season.
-I really wasn’t sure about the McGoldrick signing, age and injuries + never been a consistent prolific striker
Clearly there’s a reason I’m not a football manager. He looks some player!
-If McGoldrick can do this vs Bundesliga defenders I look forward to seeing him vs League 1 defenders!

Bonkers decision to get rid of Goldy. In a small collection of truly magic players we have had in last 50 yrs that I would call genuinely elite - TC/ Sabella/ Duffy/ Goldy -

I really wish we had him 1 more year.
Fucking reight balls up mate , Hecks biggest bollock dropped that's for sure , but hey we move on lets wait for Watford and see who steps up .

He’ll do well for them next year

If he’s used in the right way he’ll be brilliant for them.
HIs first touch, hold up play, shot passing ability, awareness and footballing intelligence is still closer to PL standard rather than Premier League standard.
Play him in a free role between midfield and attack and he's capable of causing the opposition all kinds of problems
but he needs the right players around him to make the runs.

However let's not forget McGoldrick has zero pace, has no power in his shots and will probably struggle to score even at league 1 level.
He's also older and might feel the pace picking up injuries if he's asked to play too often.
If they use him in the wrong way....he'll be ordinary for them.

Of course their manager should know what they've signed and I''m confident he'll be a big success there.

PS: Made me laugh.... Rosenior's first comment when when talking about McGoldrick was "he was unlucky not to score".
Last 2 seasons there were so many matches where you could say "McGoldrick was so unlucky not to score".

You missed Axel Smeets off this list

Meant to say "short passing ability" and also in many ways he's closer to Premier League standard than Championship standard.

A player who stays so calm even when loads of opposition players are running towards him trying to close him down.
Hard to believe such a classy player will be playing in league 1.
Derby County fans are in for a treat but he needs runners and decent finishers to score the goals from the numerous chances he'll create.

Also agree with others....in the 45 years I've been watching he's been one of my favourite players.
