Tempted by the Dark Side?

I've never been tempted to switch sides. My dad's a Blade so that meant I would be too.

when i was really young.. like 5 years old, i had loads of dental problems (ribena.. don't get me started).. so as a bribe to go to the dentist, my mom took me to suggs for a 'present'.. they had some neat football badges and being young and having only ever heard of george best and man utd, i asked for one of theirs.. the bloke at suggs was disgusted, he said i should support a local team (i had no idea we had one).. so who was it to be utd or wednesday?.. seeing as wednesday was such a stupid arse name for a football team i picked united.. when i got home, my grandad said 'fucking good job an' all'.. it was about the first time i'd ever heard him swear.. my step dad was a pig and attempted to convert me to the unclean at about age 9 but i wasn't having any of it.. prolly the reason we still to this day don't get on.. meh

I never have, indeed never can, contemplate the dark side. I’m afraid my footballing loyalties are long set in stone.
It’s been that way since I was a mere boy. One day out walking through Charnock Woods I fell upon a girl struggling in a stream. I waded in with scant regard for my own safety and dragged her to the bank. Imagine my complete amazement when she transformed into a fairy queen.
For my act of selfless bravery she gave me a lifetime choice. I could either support the worlds most successful football team or have a huge cock. She gave me a knowing smile and I knew there was only one choice I could make.

So I am cursed with knowing my team will never amount to a hill of beans and can never stay in one place for more than a few days thanks to my constant companion Clive the giant Rooster. Life’s a bitch.

I have absolutely no connection with Sheffield at all, I just love the Blades.

First game was at Carrow Road when I was about 13 or 14, I had been brought up as a Man Ure fan, but saw the light and attached myself to the RAWW.

Best decision of my life! UTB

Alpha Sports on Woodseats was where I used to get my footy boots but no trip to town was complete without going round Suggs and maybe buying some SUFC sweatbands (not every time)

My dad was a Blade, although by no means an avid, attend every game Blade. That meant that I was always loyal to him in terms of him being my dad, me being five and therefore any decision he makes must be right. My Grandad was from London and liked the Arse. Even though they are infinately more successful than we could ever be I have never considered the "I support Arsenal because etc etc" like some folk I meet have.

Also, when at Uni - LOADS of people had two teams. E.g Gillingham and Liverpool. Bradford and Man Utd. weirdos.

funny thing was that my grandad was a massive blade (great grandfather went to wembley.. yadda yadda) but didn't want to force me into one or the other.. but he'd have been mad as shit if i'd picked the wrong one (if you know what i mean).. when i was at school (70's) everybody was united except for a couple of hardy souls.. gradually as our fortunes declined, most of them somehow swapped over ('no i never supported united.. i've always been a pig' etc) and we ended up in a sizeable minority.. there is one particular lad i can remember who is known as a massive pig.. he's a good lad .. but i know he used to be a blade (cos he was in my class at school.. heh)
Suggs eh? that always throws up a misty eye.. especially the old one next to the arcade that was like an aladdins cave. there were stairs and rooms all over the place

Suggs was my favourite shop in the world (well equal first with the subbutteo section in Redgates) when I was a kid.

Going there for my latest boots (even the ones with the revolving studs thing that fucked my knee up) or a new cricket bat were a treat indeed.
If only it were still there I'd be straight down and see if they have any of our smashing third kit available (there Duncy).
