Everton winning today against Brighton means if we win tomorrow it won’t really change anything. Ffs

11 adults vs 11 footballers you never lnow. ...or do we?

Giving up in January is not a great aspect for fans and football in general to see
It is not giving up, it is applying common sense to conserve finances to be used when appropriate as opposed to wasted on short term hopeful investments

Agree

But , arguably , never has a season been over so early, mentally, if not factually - so - the smoke and mirror of investment during the Jan transfer window (player went back to owner club / some players moved out on loan and freed up wages for loans) was in the main - IMO - to keep alive some level of interest for supporters, and to try to deflect / minimise the accusation, from nearly all stakeholders, of the neglect, lack of interest , lack of expertise and incompetence of our owner . Plus, our owner was clinging to the hope that , beyond all realms of possibility , Wilder could galvanise the resources he had , and bring in one of two , who could actually keep us up!

Not blaming the owner for not having the funds , but the 18 month sabbatical he took from the appointment of Hecky to promotion (when he was everywhere lapping up the credit)

It's all burning in front of our eyes , not Wilders fault , not Hecky's fault , the owners fault . All smoke and mirrors - but reality is here and its going to be much worse than many people think - IMO - unless the owner actually goes...

unfortunately we do not appear to have a plan as one decision seems to contradict the other, I.e. save money in the summer window which we could say committed us to a long desperate and unlikely chance of staying up, in anticipation of having some good funds to bounce back next season, only to blow money in the January windows when we were as near as dammit committed to getting relegated

Good points. Its Nero watching Rome burn. Your reference to " burning" reminded me of that. Good analogy though.

I agree, but it would be sen by many as giving up.

Think we see Grbic again today...

Grbic

Bogle(hope George is back personally though!), Anel, Trusty, JLT, Osborn.

Souza, Hamer, Brooks, Mcatee.

Mcburnie.

And we lose 0-3.

You can tell how bad the options are by some of the suggestions in here.
Osborn at left back in a 4, anyone but Bogle at right back even if Baldock is still out, or playing Baldock at left centre back if he's available are all crazy.

Trouble is, it's hard to come up with a team that doesn't feature Bogle and/or Trusty without doing something like that, especially as Baldock, Archer and BBD might all still be missing and Davies supposedly isn't fit enough to start yet.

If we're playing wing backs, Osborn is the only real option for the left, Trusty and Brooks don't really have a clue what they're doing out there. Ideally Baldock being fit would mean he could play RCB, with Anel in the middle, Robinson LCB and Trusty not in the side. It does means Bogle at right wing back but he always plays better next to George than when he's second guessing what Ahmenhodzic is doing.

I'm on the way to the match.
Reading this thread is making me want to get off the train and head straight home

Where’s the match thread? Going to the game today. I know it’s negative but think we will be 2 goals down by half time. Neto is going to be a real handful for us.
