I'd go for:
Howard
Freeman Bray McEv Harris
Flynny Basham Doyle Murphy
Holt
Davies
Subs: Turner, Alcock, Coutts, Baxter, Done, Adams, Davies;

Look to bring Done on has sub seeing not match fit. Hoping for two upfront. Hoping

I'd play Scougall instead of McEveley and put Basham in defense.

Would love to have Basham in midfield but just don't trust McEveley at present.

No idea and i don't think Clough has.

I'd go for that team but would start Coutts rather than Doyle - hoping that he can get on the ball and bring our wide players into the game...

I'd have Scougall on the bench as well (instead of B.Davies) - he looked sharp today and I'd almost play him in front of Holt - but I'd just about start with Holt 'cos of his decent scoring record.

Decent as Freeman has been, today really showed what we miss with Brayford stuck at centre back, some of the only bits of positivity came from his forward runs as Freeman did little going forward and everyone else who ventured out onto the right wing looked completely lost. Then Flynn came on and we actually had a round peg in a round hole for a change until Clough moved him into the middle. So Brayford at right back and Flynn on the right wing are essential. The left side is easy too, Harris at left back with Murphy in front of him. With Howard obviously in goal, it's just straight up the middle that's the problem.

Basham gets one centre back spot. McEveley is a worry far too often, but him and Basham as a pairing has been decent for most of the season, so I'd go with that as it frees up the best right back to play in his natural position. Steve Davies up front seems the most probable option with Baxter behind him, leaving just the two central midfield spots. Coutts and Holt have done an OK job there rather than having a Doyle-type in midfield.

Howard
Brayford, Basham, McEveley, Harris
Flynn, Coutts, Baxter, Holt, Murphy
S. Davies

Subs: Willis, Freeman, Doyle, Reed, Scougall, Done, McNulty

Ideally I would like to see Kennedy alongside McEveley but hearing the former is unlikely to make it. In which case I would like to see:-

Howard
Bradford Basham McEveley Harris
Flynn Holt Doyle Murphy
Done Davies

Subs: Turner, Freeman, Reed, Scougall, Adams, Baxter, McNulty

Looks good but I'd play Baxter instead of Coutts.

For all of Coutts faults, being able to move like a professional athlete is not one of them, unlike Jose "The Pie Man" Baxter.

In these big games we can't afford to carry an unfit midget however good his 2 yard passes or penalties are.

One of the better players this season and you think Coutts is better:eek:. Yet to see anything decent from him although away at Oldham he did ok when he came on.

Baxter ,one of the better players this season ?? Are you having a laugh Boo ? He has been fucking terrible and as our inspirational playmaker the biggest disappointment of the season.

Says alot for the rest then.

You say that but he has been left out a lot lately and we haven't won for a while. Could be coincidence.....or maybe we just don't have anyone better?
If you think he should play, then we don't have anyone better.
I know he adds bite but that is about it for me. I'm not of the opinion that that is enough.
He may have been left out lately because NC thinks he's not good enough?

Howard
Brayford
Collins
Mceveley
Harris
Flynn
Coutts
Holt
Murphy
Baxter
S Davies/Done

If Negative can swallow his pride Collins could be the difference......but I aint holding mi breath.

Does it really matter. When a team struggles to even take a short freekick, I think the line up is the least of our worries.

What about Basham Torrix, he has to play surely? He has been one of, if not thee most consistent players all season.

I just think he offers a bit of leadership in terms of talking to the other players. Sometimes just having that persona out there makes a big difference and in fairness, we've tried a couple of others in that position who have hardly convinced. For me he plays but that's just my opinion.

I think it's interesting to read people's opinions on where best to play Basham.

For me his best position is centre midfield and whilst he provides probably our best option at centre half to either move Brayford out to right back or to come in for McEverley, I think the team as a whole is stronger for him in midfield.

I agree with groveblade and Worksop_Blade in terms of a line up. But I'd also consider putting Done for Flynn, but I think that may serve us better in terms of a last 30 mins sub.

Bench: Willis, Alcock, Doyle, Scougall, Baxter, Done, McNulty

Baxter seems to do better coming off the bench at times, and him and Done coming on for 30 minutes in the second half provides us options to change a game, I just hope Nigel is positive enough in his approach to these sort of changes and we don't just try to hold on to a 1-0 if we manage to get ahead early on Thursday.

I have few expectations for these playoffs. It's us and we all know the history and we haven't played well this season. But there is still a chance and what we have this time is some forwards who might just make a difference. Davies has looked decent since he's signed and I think him leading the line works well. But a massive hope for me is Matt Done, I think he's been rested recently to try and get him into full fitness for the playoffs and I think he could well prove a difference maker.

The club has made a very good decision in the pricing for the home leg, and putting Blades in the BL upper, and I understand a lot of us don't hold out much hope, but that shouldn't stop us backing them to the hilt on Thursday.

Round pegs, round holes and that includes playing our £2M right back at right back. Basham may be better for us in midfield given that we lack a presence there but for the here and now play him at CB and let Brayford do what he was bought to do.

May need to change for the 2nd leg depending what happens but at home 1st:

Howard
Brayford, Basham, McEveley, Harris
Flynn, Coutts, Holt, Murphy
Done
Davies

Brayford - - Alcock - - McEveley - - Harris

Flynn - - - - - - - Scougall - - - - - - - Murphy

Playing Alcock at centre half is the only way I can find at getting JB at right back and Basham in centre mid.

Dito except for Collins in for Alcock assuming Kennedy's season is over.

Subs: Turner, Freeman, Reed, Adams, B Davies, Baxter, Coutts

I'd go:

Howrad
Brayford Basham McEveley Harris
Flynn Doyle Scougall,( or Baxter or Reed ) Murphy
Davies Done

Clough will likely go:

Howard
Freeman Brayford McEveley Harris
Flynn, Coutts, Basham, Scougall, Murphy
Davies
