With Derby winning tonight eliminating the smallest of small hopes we had of making the playoffs, what do you think Wilder should do in the last home game? Play the strongest XI? Rotate things about a bit? Give some of the youth a chance? Personally I would:

- Start Lafferty, I don't think there's many people that think Stevens is in great form, so at least give him some game time. I don't know where Freeman is at since his injury but if he's available then at least try to bring him on as a sub to see where he's at
- Slater hasn't disappointed in the chances he has been given, perhaps give Holmes the start he's not had since forever and bring him on
- I have no clue what we're going to do in terms of forwards but if we do end up spending over the summer it'd be nice to start Sharp in our last home game in case he ends up completely out of the picture
- Might populate the bench with the likes of Semple and others that might be on the fringes of the squad next season, don't follow the development lads as closely as others so I don't know who else might be close, would give Blackman the start but then bring Eastwood in at Bristol

Thoughts?

Play Wright and Sharp as it could be their last games at The Lane and they deserve a send off for helping drag us out of utter shit.

I wouldn't risk Freeman now. Give him a pre season to get himself fit. One game at the end of the season before a break won't do him much good.

I'd go something like

Blackman
Baldock
Lafferty
Leonard
Wright
O Connell
Fleck
Slater
Holmes
Brooks
Sharp

I agree roygbiv, if Leonard is being seriously viewed as a CB, it might be prudent to play him in that position for the next two games. See what he can do against two decent sides. Also, Holmes has to start if fit.

Let’s hope it’s not Fleck’s last game at the Lane

Can we please have one of our best strikers in Billy Sharp starting this game? Is it that much to ask? Donaldson has more than paid his money back but Billy should be starting most games before him, especially at home.

As strong a team as possible without player sentiment. Imagine if we beat Preston and Derby, Millwall and Brentford (all playing away from home against teams that have something to play for) lost ?

Unlikely I know but but but what if ? :)

The bit part role that Sharp has played since Xmas has me baffled to be perfectly honest.

Not as if our other strikers have been in top form, is it ???

Writing on the wall that Sharp not in plans going forward, and I suspect that chat has already taken place. Shame.

I’m pretty sure Sharp will still be a vital part of next seasons squad.
Me too, I think with us still being in the Championship next season then he will have a part to play.

Would like a taller and more prolific striker. Also someone like Aiden Flint in the back 3 - mega mega bucks wishes I know but that's what we need to do to progress. LWB and sign Blackman on a perm.

Got to be the strongest team or the one that Wilder believes gives us the best chance to win.

Don't believe for 1 minute 6th place is attainable but whilst mathematically it is, you must be professional, especially when you're playing another team in the mix.

I actually like this team, fairly attacking but with Leonard and fleck’s engines I could see this working really well

Blackman
Baldock Stearman Oconnell Lafferty
Leonard Fleck
Brooks Duffy Holmes
Clarke

Subs; Moore, Freeman( if fit ) or Stevens, Wright, Evans L, Basham, Sharp, Evans C.

Time to try 4-2-3-1 in preparation for next year and give some players a rest. Play offs have gone. More solid defence giving Leonard a try out at holding midfielder and pacy three behind main striker. It can always go to 3-4-1-2 if needed.

I wonder if JOC gets a rest now. Or if starting all 46 means something to him?

I'd definitely give Lafferty, Sharp, Holmes and Leonard starts. Could see Baldock getting a day off as well

Blackman
Leonard
Basham
Stearman
Wright
Lafferty
Evans
Fleck
Holmes
Wilson/Brooks
Sharp

Commit complete sacrilege by going 4-4-2 ( a bit like most of the world's most successful teams in the last 40 years, but what's that got to do with anything ? )

........................Blackman................

Bash......Stearman.......Wright...... O' Connell

Duffy........ Evans....... Fleck......... Brooks

Sharp.... Clarke

Both full backs encouraged to get forward with Evans or Fleck dropping into the holding role when they do.

Quality and experience at the back , quality and creativity in midfield , the leagues leading goal scoring partnership up front.

What's not to like ?
