With this being on Friday I’d quite like to see us give it a go. You only live once!

Yes, our priority is the league but there are still plenty taking an enforced rest here to the point that I see us having only 18 to pick from.

Of the 26 we have at BDTBL:
Moore is suspended
Freeman is only just training again
Fleck is suspended
Evans is cup tied
Leonard is cup tied
Holmes is cup tied
Coutts is injured
Brooks is only just training again

I reckon that leaves us:

Blackman
Stearman Wright O’Connell
Baldock Basham Lundstram Stevens
Duffy
Sharp Clarke

Subs: Eastwood, Lafferty, Heneghan, Carruthers, Wilson, Donaldson, Evans

We may consider seeing Heneghan instead of Wright or giving Lafferty a run, maybe even resting Clarke in favour of Donaldson.

By QPR we will have Evans, Leonard and Holmes back and plenty of options up top.

Leicester had a bad defeat and i’m not sure a 4-0 vs a much changed XI would help momentum.

Why not give it a go, resting just a couple? It is the FA Cup afterall!

I'd change formation. We'll get stuffed if we play our usual style I fear, I'd go 4-3-3 and try and then we can play Wright and Stearman and have a strong backline. Baldock and JOC either side.

Bash Lundstram Stevens in a defensively capable midfield, with Bash and Stevens obviously getting back often.

Then Duffy playing just behind Wilson and Donaldson, playing to steal a goal. I would say Sharp but I'd like to save him for the league.

Good opportunity to play a defensive formation and team that sits and attacks on the counter.

Let's see if we can play this way (should have played like that at Wolves instead of being completely open). I'd tell the wing backs to be proper full backs for this game. Probably have Lafferty in at left back with Wright in at centre half. Keep it tight, be a pain to break down (like a lot of sides do to us at the Lane) and try and nick one on the counter.

Eastwood
Stearman Wright henegan
Baldock Basham Duffy lundstram Lafferty
Donaldson Wilson

Qpr

Same as yesterday with Leonard in for fleck

I’d start Wilson and Sharp.

The rest of the team picks itself due to injuries and suspensions.

Blackman
Stearman Wright O'Connell
Baldock Basham Lundstram Lafferty
Duffy Carruthers
Donaldson

Subs: Eastwood, Heneghan, Stevens, Slater, Brooks, Wilson, Evans

These cup tied players are absolutely fucking us.

You'd play a centre back at left back and a left back in midfield? Yet you worry we'd get stuffed playing the usual way?

I'd probably go with Ricky's starting line-up, but have Sharp and Clarke on the bench rather than left out completely.

That's the team I'd go for. Maybe Wilson in for Carruthurs who seems to be totally out of form right now

In my defence, i mean more like

Baldock Stearman Wright JOC
BashcccccccccccvcccStevens
CccccccLundstram
CcccccccccDuffy
CccccWilson
CccccccccccDonaldson

Maybe 433 was a bit of an over simplification, 4-2-1-1-2? Swap Bash for Baldock maybe. Just want plenty of defensive players because they are quick when they attack, it might really be 6 at the back.

In my further defence. It was late and I'm a momo and yeah it's a wank idea :D

The new players being cuptied is extremely annoying and shows why we shouldn’t have let Thomas go out on loan.

We can’t afford to risk Duffy missing the QPR game with Fleck out so I would go..

.....Donaldson............C.Evans.

Might as well give Ched a run otherwise there seems to be less and less point to him being back here. Donaldson does well away from home so would start him and give Leon a rest.

I fancy trying a 442 because I want to see how Lafferty fares in a back four and Lundstram in a Defensive midfield role.

Blackman
Baldock - Wright - Stearman - Lafferty
Duffy - Basham - Lundstram - Carruthers
Donaldson - Evans/Wilson

Quality on the bench if it doesn't work.

Carruthers has done nothing to deserve being around the first team even if we are short I would question his attitude as he hardly puts up a great case for his inclusion if it were me I’d run through a Fking brick wall to prove I was good enough rather than toss it off picking up decent money not giving a fk playing 23’s football

It's the absolute last chance saloon for Carruthers. As it stands it's our only remaining game he'll have a chance to start, or even get in the squad.

I'd think about starting Slater. It'd be a great experience for him, with minimal pressure. And he's more solid if we want to play that way.

Not sure you’d even get 45 out of Brooks yet. It’s a strange illness and you really don’t want to risk it for fear of setting him back another month.

It's the 5th round of the FA Cup - give it a good go and see what happens - no point worrying about QPR until after this game finishes....

* Although it's right to be very careful with Brooks

I’d go 3-5-2:
Blackman
Basham Wright O’Connell
Baldock Lafferty
Lundstram Carruthers
Duffy
Donaldson Wilson
Subs: Eastwood, Stevens/Freeman? Henighan, Slater, Brooks?, Evans, Sharp;

I'm there on Friday night and hope we field a really strong side and give Leicester a hell of a game. I'm not certain we'll win but the lads will leave everything out there on the pitch just as tufty demands!!. I'll be singing loud and proud no matter what happens. COYRAWW.

Tricky one this with most of the new boys cup-tied and a few of the squad players out on loan....with a potential place in the quarter finals half of me says play the strongest side possible and go for it, the other half says take the opportunity to rest a few with 4 or 5 winnable league games coming up that could get our push for the play-offs back on track. Baldock could do with a rest, he puts 110% in for the full 90 every week but with Freeman on the way back we will at last have decent cover at RWB....can't see us switching from 3-5-2 even though Leicester could easily rip us a new one like Wolves did!

I agree that Baldock needs a rest as he puts a proper shift in and has probably been our most consistent performer since Christmas but Freeman is no where near ready unfortunately be a while yet before he features
