Team vs Burton

I understand the points raised. But this is the issue we have in the Championship our squad beneath the first team isn’t of a championship standard.

Teams like Boro / Norwich / even pigs can change there team quite dramatically and the standard doesn’t differ too much.

This is why we need continuous investment. We need a push financially in Jan and the same again in the summer to continue to compete and progress.
Not that weak. We seem to be missing cover for Fleck and I'm not sure that either Brooks or Carruthers can cover Duffy but apart from that we're OK. We've just had quite a few injuries this season already, in certain positions. We've hardly seen Lafferty but have had loads of players at right back. We've not been short at centre half but had four strikers out at the same time.
It's been a bit weird in that respect but it happens. We probably need to bring in two or three quality players. We don't want too many players who can't get a game.

Lundstram did nothing wrong at QPR. Why would you bring back Fleck?
Im hoping you were saying this just to enhance your point, not actually meaning we should’ve left Lundstram in?

At this moment in time there's no debate who is our best keeper. Blackman has made 1 goal costing error and perhaps 3 or 4 non critical errors in 15 games. In those 15 games we have had the 3rd best defensive record in the league. Moore has made 1 goal costing error and 1 non critical error in 1 game!
How could you possibly justify Blackman not getting his shirt back, beyond just a general feeling he'll make a mistake.
Does Moore get any credit for last season?

There’s not much difference in quality between Moore and Blackman as it stands, I don’t mind who plays but there’s no doubt in my mind that Blackman will play in the Premier league and will be a far superior keeper to Moore.

The attributes Blackman struggles with are all ones that he can improve on as he progresses, you can’t really say the same about Moore.

It earns him praise and respect certainly, but there's no room for nostalgia. Under Wilder the most in form player will get the shirt, regardless of how much they cost, what they did last season or whether he signed them. It's one of many reasons why we love the man.

We'll have to wait and see then, I expect Moore to keep his place for at least the next game to get Blackman back up to speed and then, it'll be his to lose.

I agree. Who ever starts they will be there on merit. For some reason Blackman doesn't seem to inspire confidence in fans. Yet the back three look really comfortable with him, and clearly trust him. I've been impressed so far this season and don't understand why fans think he's a disaster waiting to happen.

For me it was both, and something that will naturally happen with keepers that are more decisive in those situations. You will get errors every once in a while, but you will also see more instances of the danger being removed by the action taken – in the latter stages vs Leeds I thought he was excellent at this. That’s why I hope he returns to the team.
I don't think we need to worry too much which one plays. Anyone seeking reassurance can watch the goals from Brentford v Leeds last Saturday to see proper goalkeeping errors.

Absolutely – we’re back to the good old days of arguing about who the best goalkeeper is, rather than who is the least worst.

Same side that smashed Hull and make sure they realise that Burton will be no push over, they will be well up for it, Nigel Cunt will make sure of that.

This will be number one on Nigel's list of games to win / not lose the point they start with this season.

I agree, but we've seen what happens when we go in with one or more components of our spine missing.

JoC, Fleck, Coutts, Duffy, Sharp and LEON - should play/start every game for which they are fit. The fulcrum of our team is that midfield triumvirate and we aren't half the team when one of them is missing.

As others have said, take them off when we're 2 up if we're worried about resting.

I thought I'd caught a wiff of summat in the 2nd half on Satdi - just thought it was their defence crapping it :p

Did you see the bench on Saturday?

Personally I prefer our standard to that of the other clubs named above.

Your last paragraph is common sense and I agree with it. There will be a ‘push financially’ but not as spectacular as Jimmy White’s Deadline Day Army will unrealistically expect.

Clough will have been watching how we set up more closely than he does other teams because, as others have mentioned, this one match he really wants to win / not lose.

So I'd mix it up totally. If Baldock's fit slot him back in, with Bash up front with Hanson. IMPROVISE ADAPT OVERCOME

(If Baldock isn't fit)

Moore
Bash CCV Wright O'Connell Stevens
Coutts Fleck
Duffy
Clarke Sharp

The reason for taking out CCV is because he's a little bit dodgy. Probably not a little but his kicking is pretty shite (albeit he did provide a good assist to Clarke for the first goal)

CCV looked perfect on Saturday. What did he do wrong?

his kicking is a bit off - doesn't seem like he can kick a ball properly. at leeds the ball came to him, he went to clear it and his left foot hit the ball first, he completely missed the ball with his right foot and 2 footed their right back.

somehow we got a freekick. i thought he was going to get a red

there's been more instances than that, but that's the most vivid incident in my mind

He’s a very promising young player. He can defend and he can play. He’s a bit lightweight though, or so Piggy Fletcher thought when he tried to outmuscle CCV and found himself on his useless piggy arse. Wait until he fills out a bit...

I thought he kicked it very 'properly' for leon's first goal on Saturday.

He looks more at home in the centre of the three than on the right though. I expect Tufty will revert to that when we have a fit right-wing-back.

Your current favourite Bladey Blade, Jake Wright, has to occupy the central berth due to his lack of pace. With KF or GB back on the right then Chris presumably moves Bash back into the middle three leaving CCV and JW in competition for the remaining place.

On present form CCV would probably shade it from JW, but with a lot of games coming up in December I can see some rotation. You shouldn't let that upset you, as clubs like Barca do it and I believe it is a popular tactic on Junior Championship Manager too.

Ah, if it works on JCM, elite edition, it will do for me any day.

I can't make my mind up about Blackman or Moore. The mistake at qpr was a massive balls up by him. To suggest it was just unlucky is ridiculous. He has come close to gifting goals by how long he takes with the ball. Against Ipswich, he needlessly waited ages before passing it to our defender who was under pressure and lost the ball. Ipswich then hit the bar, it would've been blackmans fault and totally stupid.

His sheer size is a bonus, but for those berating Moore's capabilities with long range shots, Blackman, to say he's about 6"6 never seems to get anywhere near them.
