Get Duffy on at half time so we have half a chance of doing something meaningful in the second half.

Freeman and Duffy in for me, however if Duffy's knackered then do as Ricky says. Sharp definitely needs to start and the other forward position is a bit of a "meh" from me at the moment.

Woodburn??

Nothing I've seen from him thus far suggests he should be anywhere near the starting XI...

Me neither, but unfortunately we have no better alternative to Duffy so it's either that or go with the dreaded flat 3 midfield with L******** restored to the line up.

It should also be a decent game to throw Woodburn in, because PNE are a bit loose at the minute and are missing Ben Pearson, who Woodburn would've otherwise been directly up against.

It would have also been a more suitable game to play Johnson than last night was.

If Wilder wanted to use the squad players he should have done so on Saturday, in what looks a considerably easier game than Birmingham. But maybe you get more points for Saturday wins than midweek ones...

I think he thought Birmingham would be the easier game of the 2.

I agree though, play the best team to get the win on Tuesday and let Saturday look after itself.

If he thought that then he had his head in the clouds. Birmingham are always well organised and awkward, have played well this season and are the type of side we struggle against.

Preston are often similar but haven't been this season, and are missing their key defensive midfielder.

When you've got back to back home games like this, as long as you get at least 3 points it won't be a disaster. So it makes sense to try and get that win as quickly as possible. Don't do it in the first game, and the pressure's all on the second.

Is Freeman injured? If he isn't he has to start for me. Love Baldock but he doesn't have the same instincts getting forward.

Duffy starts too, surely?

Otherwise, agree with the line up.

this definitely , is he injured !?! from CW interview after the game it sounded like he was rested !?

Freeman has shown the start of this season and end of last how badly we missed him

as said above , always try and win the game you have now and don't think about the next game until afterwards

I don't get why you'd start Woodburn with the intention of taking him off at half time because we need Duffy on to do something meaningful, especially when you say it makes sense to try and win as quickly as possible.

Start Duffy, get the game won early like against Villa, then give Woodburn half an hour or more with the pressure off.

100% Clarke will start Saturday, probably with Billy.

Other than that Freeman and Enda in for Johnson and Baldock. Midfield trio stays the same, surely Fleck & Pink Boots can't be as poor again....

He's certainly got a dilemma now, does he make another 5/6 changes for Saturday, who'd be a manager, damned if he does............

I think we're in the position were several players should be interchangeable without affecting the team too much, it was just unfortunate last night that changes coincided with certain 'regulars' having stinkers. As he said in his post match, Stevens and Freeman have done nothing wrong so you'd presume they'll be back in given last night's result but you can't keep chopping and changing. However, if we want a squad who can compete with strength and depth, this goes with the territory and something Tufty will have to get a handle on.

Duffy for Woodburn, Freeman(he's ace) for Baldock, n il be happy with that.

So if we win against Preston then we have points in the bag according to this logic?

Call me whatever you want but i don't go along with all this resting of players. The promotion team of 70/71 was virtually the same team week in ,week out and that included league and f,a cups as well.
You may say that players are more finely tuned and more likely to get injured these days but again, i still believe they are better off playing than sitting on a bench.
The top Premiere clubs can rotate as the players coming in are bloody good players but at Championship level most squads show a core of very good players backed up by lesser talent.
Messing about with a team that is performing well disrupts the rhythm and makes the side disjointed as we saw last night.
I'm sorry but if a highly trained athlete can't play a couple of games a week or maybe 3 in ten days then summats not right.
Everything about the game has become over the top what with all the analysing of every aspect of a players game by technical tripe

That's how i see it . Play your best team. That's what i pay to see.

how do you know that Rog? he’s hardly played apart from 10 minutes here and there

He started against Norwich and was the worst player on the park and in the 10 min cameos we've seen he looks like a fan whose won a competition to play the last 10 mins...

This is the Championship, we're wanting to be a team pushing for the £1bn PL. This is no place for passengers.

Conversely have you seen anything that warrants inclusion in starting XI, excitement, hope? At least Brooks had that speed and intent to run at people...

.

Not really. Based on league starts, the usual team for that season was Hodgkinson (24), Badger (42), Hemsley (40), Powell (31), Colquhoun (40), Salmons (25), Woodward (42), Tudor (21), Dearden (40), Currie (42), Reece (27)

No Duffy = No creativity.

Woodburn? I don’t think he’s done enough to warrant a starting place tbh.

I’d also put Freeman back in if he’s fit, in place of Baldrick.
