Team v MK Dons?

The fact is that if MK had procured a team through legitimate means, they would probably have been a lot of people's 2nd favourite team. But they didn't, so they aren't.

Agree with that too - for those who saw it happen, there can be no sympathy for MK Dons. In fact, I'm much more comfortable seeing them in the lower leagues.

Actually had two or three similar standard to Sheffield Club or just below but they were miles away from the Football League!

Yes so if people in Milton Keynes really wanted to watch football they could have done so, without uprooting an existing club.

Probably the same reason you support the blades and not your local park team.

Your user name suggests you might know of a similar story.
After years of financial precarity, in 1910 Woolwich Arsenal faced bankruptcy, with the club managing an average crowd of only 11,000, compared to Chelsea's average gate of 28,000.[4] That year, London property magnate and Fulham chairman Sir Henry Norris bought Arsenal out, rescuing the club, and he proceeded to move them all the way across London to the new Arsenal Stadium in Highbury three years later, after an attempt to merge Fulham and Arsenal failed.

I think Arsenal are a shitty club too :)

I don't like MK Dons by any means but PaulMK came on here to discuss today's football and compare and contrast teams - think it's a bit unfair to rip into MK Dons when he's only come on here to discuss a football game.

You need to get one of those US psychoanalysts to treat your problem, to let you release all that anger :) PS I bet your co workers don't understand :)

Anger? Me? I'm just a teddy bear :) My co-workers are fully aware of my hatred of the Scum, they nod their heads and give an understanding "Aah" when I'm on one but nope, they'll never understand the intensity of the hatred that I have for the filth. Not a problem though, I'm English, they expect some level of eccentricity.

Most people round here watched Man ure, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal on tv and never went to live football, they still follow them and go to MK. 20 years ago a lot of our fans weren't born for some the stadium has been here their whole life and just want to go to their local team. Yes it was wrong but it's been done and it can't be changed blame the FA and Wimbledons owners for moving it not people for wanting to go to watch football. But enough of that what's the score gona be 2-1 Mk for me.

You do not support a proper football club and you are not a proper football fan.

Absolute Rubbish!
How do you know that the people of MK werent supportive?

Because if MK Dons fans actually were football fans and not a bunch of wankers they would have dragged their arses along to see a non league team, but give them a bit of support and see what happens. Instead the citizens of Milton Keynes sat on their arses until some tit with a shit haircut handed them league football on a plate.

Hope we muller em, takin my four year old son on the kop today it will be his first league game, (i previously took him to fa cup games against salisbury and birmingham city) He is properly excited. UTB!
Opted for the south stand atmosphere wasnt as good but he got a decent view shame it was a dead rubber

And what about their opinions on carrying guns?........... No don't answer, that was a joke :)

Hmm, now there's a sore point. All my colleagues are big on guns, no I mean BIG on guns. Not for me to be honest, my usual response is that real men don't hide behind guns, guns are for cowards, real men have fists and bottle and only someone soft as shit thinks he's a tough guy because he's got a gun (or several in these boys cases).

Most of the gun toters where I work are short, fat, unfit and very Republican. Full of bullshit and they can all talk a good game but take away their guns? Seriously, they'd be on toes quicker than the Pigs on West Street on a Saturday night.

Because thirty years ago Milton Keynes was a very small place population around 50,000 and in the early stages of development - now the population is in the region of 250,000 and increasing year on year faster than any place in the UK.
As the town has grown so has the demands for infrastructure, leisure facilities and entertainment
In the early days the 'locals' who were football supporters travelled to Northampton, Watford and Luton for League football and many of the new inhabitants were coming from Glasgow, Liverpool, London and yes even Sheffield - perhaps a tad to far to travel every other week to see their team.
By taking Wimbledon to Milton Keynes, Winkleman supplied League Football to the emerging population of Milton Keynes - the reason that Wimbledon was available was that Merton Council didn't want to back them and they onl;y had a small hardcore of fans - they were bust, no money, broke and going to the wall.
For football fans to call them is hypocritical - read Fit & Proper by Matthew Bell & Gary Armstrong - Sheffield United in the 1990's haboured UK's biggest white-collar fraudster, also had a chairman that couldn't decide to be a man or a woman, also had a chairman subject to an international arrest warrant and another chairman who is a fugitive from the law who was in turn succeeded by a man with connections to Libyan arms dealers
MK a disgrace - look in your own back yard first before throwing stones!
Why should we really? The weirdo chairmen we have had, as exposed by Matty Bell in his book, do not make us a fake football club.

Get em fuckin told Walthy lad. Do you realise that you've got likes from brownie and misen. Thats gotta be a first!

Sometimes righteousness burns so bright it can't be denied.

Wednesday and L##ds are hateful shites. MK Dons are just the drippings from a wankers tissue. I hate football clubs like L##ds and t' Pigs. MK Twats don't count.

What they did to an ailing club really gets my goat, and the fact that Winkleman could buy a club, move it 100 miles, change its name, identity and effectively use it as a franchise. Wimbledon should have been allowed a peaceful death and their place in the league gone to a well run, and deserving conference club. If Milton Keynes deserved a football club they should have done what everyone does and built one from scratch.

Sheffield United in the 1990's........had a chairman that couldn't decide to be a man or a woman.........

That'd be Sam Hashimi then. Launched an unsuccessful takeover bid, but never became chairman.

Stock answer for anyone who disagrees?
NO Not a closet pigs fan - just someone who gets pissed off when people spout about something they obviously don't have a clue about!

Glass houses, stones, etc. :D

Why exaggerate Brownie - does it make your auguement stronger if you virtually double the mileage - 55-60 miles tops Bletchley to Merton

A well run and deserving Conference Club ? A bit like Maidstone, Boston or Rushden & Diamonds you mean!

When they were developing Milton Keynes many UK Head Offices of companies were 'moved' there to provide jobs such as Scania, VW, Abbey National, Mobil, Mercedes Benz

Milton Keynes has grown far quicker than any place in the UK - In todays world of Sky TV, Premier League to evolve a football league team from scratch would take between 7-10 years - Wimbledon were going to the wall - Merton Council didn't give a shit! Perfect solution except
Some football 'fans' somehow think that because 'their' club have been in business for over a hundred years it gives them the right to be moralistic and judgemental !

What pisses me off is to see kids in Sheffield running around with Chelsea, Man Utd, Man City and Arsenal shirts because they see them on Sky week in week out - these kids never dream of going down to the Lane to see live football because we are not in the Premier League, Champions League - seeing Abramovitch, Glaziers, Oil Shieks and the like pump £millions/billions into clubs to buy success - thats what pisses me off
Not Milton Keynes playing Third Division football giving the kids of Milton Keynes the chance to watch live league football!

But still it does not answer the question: why didn't MK build a team from scratch?

But still it does not answer the question: why didn't MK build a team from scratch?
They did try - several times with several different teams but in todays world everything has to be instant bear in mind there was 'no core' of fans - the population of MK is made up from all parts of the UK and beyond - there is no history no base to work from!
When I was growing up in Sheffield it was either United or the other lot - my dad took me to the matches because he was a Blade, I took my son to the matches now he's a Blade - he travels nearly 200 miles to watch a game at the Lane - it's different in MK
All the parents probably follow 'their' home team but it might be Liverpool, Rangers, Celtic, Newcastle etc - Most of MK Dons fanbase is under 25 - most of the kids who follow 'football' rather than 'glory hunters' will probably end up watching the Dons!

I understand what you are saying about the 'want it now' culture etc, but it still will never convince me that what they did and the way they went about it is anything other than wrong.

If Milton Keynes is so wonderful, then why don't you do us all a favour and fuck off and go and support them.

How delightful - what a charmer you are Brownie !
I am surprised by that reaction - I thought you were a balanced person - perhaps the chip on both shoulders!
What does surprise me is that you have so much hate for a small team in Buckinghamshire yet champion the cause for a convicted rapist!
