Cooper

Bogle* Struijk Esteve Burrows

Brownhill Bellingham

James Azaz Sainz

Maja

* don’t crucify me, I think it’s a toss up between Bogle and Roberts at Burnley, one part of the best defence the other getting a number of assists.

Anyway, have a crack and post yours without looking up any formal stats, then have a look afterwards, there’s some surprising under/over performances.

Esteve - sounds like a modern electronic version of Stephen

Inclined to agree with most of that.
Souttar and Souza would have been our other players in with a shout, but now missing too much football.

Souza I had in until I remembered Dan James, then came a reshuffle.

Why is Azaz better than Hamer?

It’s not about who’s the best player

Edit: but feel free to explain why you’d have Hamer in over Azaz based on performances this season so far…
Hamer is better because he has been the key attacking player for the team that without a 2 point deduction would be top of the table.

That doesn’t make him better than Azaz. The reason we are above Boro and would be top but for the 2 point deduction is our defensive record, hence I’ve got Coops in there and Burrows and no other Boro player, especially not a defender.

We keep it tight, get the ball to Hamer, he does something, we score. Then we see the game out, simples, if we played like Boro, Hamer would have better stats; but if we played like Boro, we'd probably also be 6th

I bet if you asked all rival fans and managers who they'd rather have, Azaz or Hamer, I bet nearly all would say Hamer

This thread, and TOTY isn’t about ‘who would you rather have’. If we are one man team you suggest we are Hamer is underperforming massively statistically.

The games I have seen he is good. Probably will be a premier league level player, not as good as his brother though.
He does look very good and he's only 19. Similar style to his brother, not as good obviously.

But the world's his oyster. A couple of years from now who knows how good he could be. He could be a star. Most players his age aren't as good as he is already anyway.

We’ve got 4 in the Sky’s EFL team of the season so far - Cooper, Burrows, Soutar, Sousa. Full team here..

They appear to have left out Barry "best midfielder in the EFL (TM)" Bannan

Seriously though, I would have Wilder as manager of the season so far. The rebuild job has been fantastic, even more so with all the off-field shenanigans.

I thought after the Sunderland game at home that he was the first player this season that could cope with pressure from souza.
He has pace and strength enough to hold Souza off. His first touch is good and he can play a pass. If he keeps his head and stays grounded he will do well. He may not be at the level of his brother but he is more than capable of being a decent PL player.

I think he'll be probably end up being a level down from his brother who at 21 is already an international superstar, winning Champions Leagues for Real Madrid.

But I think Jobe wil be a top player as he develops more. Probably play for England too

I'll admit of I've not seen Bellingham in too many games but he's just looked like a average championship player at best. I'm guessing it's because he's also got his brothers haircut why the hype is so big.

According to AI (Grok 2) this is the current team of the season:

I think if you wanted a DM in the team, Souza would get the nod. But otherwise, think this looks a really good line up. Cooper and Burrows would be the two certs for us, with Hamer pushing Dan James, or on the bench. Did not realise Bogle was doing so well for Leeds though ( just because I have not seen them much and their fans seem to complain about everyone in their side). Think Esteve at Burnley looks absolute class.

What !! the lad at Sunderland isn't as good as the lad at Real Madrid, you learn all sorts on this forum ,

Much better than average, big future for him

You can't have seen much of him then

I wouldn’t swap Soutter and Anel as a CB pairing for anything in this division, and more than a couple from the PL.

Vini would be in every single team in the division also.

Cooper a shoe in.

It’s that spine that has seen us get to where we are in the division. To get over the line will, without any shadow of doubt, require improvements and upgrades at the top of the pitch.

Pace and power - not slow and deliberate !!!
