Just a note on Baxter - I said at the start of the season that I have been at a club which Adkins has managed and seen him at work first hand, there is no point in even mentioning him again, I know what Adkins is all about and I am positive we wont see him playing for united again.

Baxter was present for some player visits posted on the official site so he's not totally out of it.

Otoh he's not been in the squad for the last couple of games.

Seems very much to be on his way out. A pity bc he's scored and assisted some good goals, and been fitter and more committed but he needs to grow up.

Collins is ok when he is up against a bit of a lump up front and a direct team, like scunny were last week, they played to his strengths, I am no expert regarding Wigan but I reckon they will be more of a footballing team, this is when we worry about Collins. If I was to give an opposing manager any help it would be push up on Collins at every opportunity and put him under pressure and play the ball on the floor, they will then have to let the keeper kick the ball clear.

But this applies to any centre half.

We play Done and Sharp to try and get in amongst the opposition.

Collins had a bad time against Armstrong but by all accounts so have plenty of other Division 3 defenders.

He is a goner, I like him but not sure if any team in this division can afford to 'carry' a player. Shows flashes of brilliance but is in and out of games far too much.

Just a note on the photo, I think the players who went are the ones who live in Sheffield. Baxter and Wallace have moved to Sheffield. I know that for a fact as my mate is living across the road from Wallace and I have seen Baxter in the local bookies!

It'll be the same XI and it's difficult to argue against it. I'd be surprised if Woolford plays the 90, unless of course he plays well, and can see JCR being introduced for him if we're chasing a goal.

I'm not happy about Collins playing at all but it seems that Adkins is sticking with him. It sounds like he played well last week which means he's due a bad game again soon. Yes he's been part of a team that's kept 3 clean sheets in a row, however he did everything he possibly could against Coventry to try and make sure that wasn't the case and was up against tricky strikers who were always on the move.

yes but its constructive and methodical. Its never just swearing and throwing things which I have been involved in a fair few times!

If we can keep the same side as the Scunny game, I probably would even though in general terms, I prefer Wallace and JCR to McEveley and Woolford. Stick with what works as a collective Keep the height and experience in the team and see if they can continue as they have been. Handy to have JCR, Sammon, Freeman and dare I suggest James Wallace? On the bench.

NA has finally found a system that grinds out results why would he make wholesale changes now, he talks about continuity in interviews, so unless there are injuries or suspensions he shouldn't change it.

Depends on the way we won. We were incredibly lucky to win v Coventry and the Scunny game could easily have finished as a draw.

If we can still identify weaknesses and have better players coming back from injury or suspension I'd say shake it up a little by all means - especially if we can shore up the defence.

I'd worry if we played the same 11 that faced Scunny against Wigan, who are a better team.

Great post. People that think we might not need to change it just because we won aren't seeing the bigger picture regarding opposition, fatigue in our players and the whole tactics of the specific game in question.

I'm not neccessarily saying we do or are going to change it but we must weigh up every scenario going into the next game, as you rightly say against much better opposition as opposed to the last game.

Can I just ask if there is any reason why you've gone for Wallace over McEverley and Harris? Don't think captain Jay has done much wrong recently mysen.

If McEverley hasnt boo-boo'd recently then I am worried. It could be a disaster If he plays, we have seen it all too often.
So it is Christmas, Come along Wigan......... goals a plenty.
