He's looking very sharp and lively. I've been impressed by him since he signed but in the last couple of games he has looked really good and he seems to be getting his confidence back. This can only be a good thing an is likely being helped by having a strike partner. He is not a lone striker but he does look like a good forward with a nice touch, a turn of pace an a decent shot.

I'm not sure if anybody else has mentioned it or even noticed, but I haven't seen anyone strike a ball as cleanly as he did when he rifled it into the top corner, just after being given off side, since Ched.

I can't say for sure whether he would have tried to smash it in from there had the whistle not gone, but it was a hell of a strike all the same.

Hopefully a few more starts from him in a system where he isn't left isolated up front and we should start to see him bag a fair few more goals.

I've been his biggest critic since he joined, but credit where it is due and he put himself about well and snuck into good positions on a few occasions. Even though King had an average game, it'v obvious that having a strike partner to play off helped him immensely. I reckon that long term Miller and Taylor could work as they both opened up the Port Vale defence with their movement off the ball.

He looked well in pre season when he was probably allowed to express himself a little more but then in my opinion Weir did a Sheffield United classic and disregarded everything he was good at and asked him to play a completely new style of game that he wasn't comfortable with or experienced at.

I've never understood why managers bring players in and harp about how good they are and their previous achievements only to try and change them completely. The lad was on fire up in Scotland therefore you bring him in with the mindset of playing a similar formation to what he played up there which is how we were anyway but no he wanted to change everything and take all players out of their comfort zones.

I still reckon Taylor's on for double figures this year anyway, might even hit 15+ if he's allowed to play to his strengths and keeps his confidence.

Yeah, he's played central a couple of times and not looked great but I reckon he needs a run of games there. I think our best partnership long term will be Taylor/Miller with Murphy as back up maybe. We could be really attacking and have a front 3 but I doubt the likeliness of that happening. If we played how Villa did last year with Benteke up front with Abonglahor and Weimann off him I reckon it'd suit Brandy as he wouldn't have to pick up the ball so deep.

I paid Taylor the ultimate turd the other week, comparing him to the mercurial Dougie Brown. Well, there is still a Brownesque quality to his play but I can't fault his effort and commitment, sometimes it will pay off for him. As for pace, awareness, touch, intelligence, patience and quality, sorry, but in very short supply and always will be.
However, give me him over the lacklustre, lazy, disinterested Marlon King, who barely raised a sweat yesterday.

And SP, Jamie Murphy is a lost cause mate.

I made some comparisons with Ched after the Bradford Defeat and I also said that the team wasnt putting the ball where he wanted it. It was something that I noticed when Ched wasnt scoring, he wasnt getti the ball where he needed it.

Good to hear that he's seemingly building some confidence
