The person who left Windass unmarked was Burrows. Exactly like the first goal in the Playoff final, Burrows left his man and got sucked towards the ball. The ball immediately went where he had been, to an unmarked man. Burrows is great going forwards but a car crash in terms of defensive discipline.

That second goal was a shocker from everybody. Burrows gave their man far too much room but that also stemmed from the middle of the park evaporating and get giving their lad all week to pick his pass wide.

I really wanted him. He was immense in that first game up at Boro but he’s gradually morphed into a mentally fragile, liability who looks like a total waste of money at this points

He’s either too rash or lackadaisical. Constantly trying to wrestle opponents instead of just playing ball. Always miss judges the flight or path of the ball.

He’s actually infuriating.

Ditto. I was so excited when we signed him, and defended him to the hilt when he was bang average at right back. But his performances since he’s been in his preferred position have ranged from good to abject.

For the “modern-day” captain I don’t really see the need for an appointed role. It’s not like they are expected to do pre-match and post-match media interviews or anything during the game other than the coin toss with a referee which if we are being honest at most grounds doesn’t matter any more with the ball usually played to feet playing into the sun doesn’t usually affect play. That part could be scrapped, away team kick off 1st half, home team decides ends at all games, done. Moving on to the roles and responsibilities, they used to be about Leadership however Tanganga isn’t a leader and we don’t have enough leaders/communicators across the park or quite simply anyone with any passion. When you are looking at positions for captaincy CBs do make sense but so do DMs as they can communicate and remind others of the link between defence and midfield. Jairo has potential to be a captain but needs to be playing 90 mins otherwise potential for mix messages unless the player replacing is our Vice captain. Although Tanga can be a liability, Burrows is just as much to blame too.

Ogbene should have done much better also, he had full view of Smiths run.

Is Souttar back from injury? Can we get him in the Summer?

Harry Souttar has not kicked a ball in 15 months - probably 18 plus by the time he's back if not more.
I loved him but we should be going nowhere near him. You only have to look at Arblaster to look how long it takes players to recover from these long term injuries and get back to anything like what they were before.

I loved him but we should be going nowhere near him. You only have to look at Arblaster to look how long it takes players to recover from these long term injuries and get back to anything like what they were before.

I think he was close and then had a setback which resulted in a knee operation. Bearing in mind it was his Achilles which ruled him out to begin with....
