You mean cooper had a great season last year, if he didn’t Anel and JLT would look different
I just hope he is not captain next season . He gets into run ins with refs fighting team mates battles when decisions don't go our way.
Needs to concentrate on his own game not get deflected by frustrations which will always happen in games..goalkeepers
I would give it to Bamford who is very experienced ! The extra responsibility would get more out of him i feel.
Sydie as vice captain ( if we can hold on to him)he is a natural leader destined for the prem ! Hopefully with us..

I think those are fair comments, I don’t have problem with him as captain but agree he does look like he could get booked every week

We have an organisation problem in the whole team. We are expecting our fullbacks to push up and then our centre backs have too much distance between them.

Last night Tanganga or Bindon drops off too quickly when Coventry break and Hamer O'Hare and Brooks are too far forward to offer any help to the defense. Brooks and Seriki were also under pressure to get back.

In the second half we were continually stretched as we weren't compact enough off of the ball. No leadership on the field and a tendency of Tanganga to lose his composure doesn't help.

I genuinely dont know why our fans seem to rate him so highly. It might be because he occasionally wins a massive header on the halfway line and shouts a lot.

For every decent performance he's had, he has a shocker like last night. I can think of maybe 8 or 9 matches this season where he has cost us, either through poor defending or indiscipline.

A massive downgrade on Anel and another poor summer signing.

Agree with this, against Wednesday in the first half Phillips dropped in to essentially a 3 allowing the full backs to push on. I thought last night when we pushed on the centre backs were left exposed to a quick break.

Riedewald is very good at this allowing up to 6/7 players to push on but still protect the defence, ensuring enough time to get back.

How shite would Maradona had been if we had signed him......Just have a pause and let that sink in ...............😉
He'd have had a no better than decent spell with us, albeit doing enough to help stave off our relegation to the third tier (meaning we ultimately missed out on that day in Darlington).

His second tier form would have attracted the interest of Everton, from whom we would have accepted their first offer, a tidy profit of £75k on our investment (or possibly a small loss and a make weight injury prone player from their reserves).

His legendary Goodison performances proved to be a barrier to Adrian Heath breaking into the first team, meaning Heath didn't achieve the career profile to become a manager.

Maradona later returned to Bramall Lane to cut his managerial teeth, leading the Blades to European Cup Winners Cup glory.

Wasnt great yesterday, that 2nd goal was beyond pathetic, the lad ran about 30 yards in a straight line un marked to head it in and he stood and watched it happen. In saying that he hasnt been that bad overall.

As others say the partnership with Bindon do not complement each other for fast hoofball tactics, both looked uncomfortable last night against what looked like a prime 1990s team.

Anyone suggesting Tanganga is worse than Robbo needs their head looking at. Far. Far better player.

And tbh Robbo conducted himself like a complete cunt towards the end. Shouting at our fans, constantly fucking wrestling in the box despite being told by the ref countless times to knock it off.

Oh and there's the small matter that he makes a critical mistake every game.

Makes me sick that we wasted well over £10M on him and McGuinness over the summer, when we could've had Egan back on a free (who's far better than both of them). I'd be more than happy for him to be sold in the summer, Millwall haven't missed him.

As much as we love them both, when Brooks and Femi are weaving their magic down the right hand side, they do leave a huge swathe of grass behind them that Tanganga also has to patrol. So when a move breaks down and the opposition clear the ball out, sometimes Jaf is caught hopelessly out of position. That is why he almost has rugby tackle players to the ground, with so many last ditch tackles.
I sure he’d be a much better centre half if we played with a proper right back and an orthodox winger….But where’s the fun in that?

Have to admit I’ve not been impressed, especially for the reported value. His loss seemingly hasn’t affected Millwall either.

Maybe if he had someone more similar to Jake Cooper next to him (I.e. Souttar) he’d look better, he’s very good with the ball but not great at this defending lark.

How the system is supposed to work is when one full back goes forward the other is supposed to tuck in and create a back three. This gives you solidity in the event of a turnover when the full back can’t recover.

The issue is we have another very attacking, defensively poor left back, and probably why we looked better when McCallum was in the team. Annoyingly Hjelde would be perfect for this role but you then sacrifice a lot of your attacking quality on the left.

And actually in any case the two goals last night came as a result of just poor positioning in normal play. No way should Seriki have given Wright such a cushion. And then when Wright came inside either Seriki needed to follow and get tight or Tanganga (I forget the other) step up. I can’t remember who crossed the second goal but it was Peck who ended up in a RB position and let the cross in for the goal. And you could tell by Peck’s reaction to the goal that he was annoyed he felt the need to be playing RB.

Seriki is excellent going forward but his defensive positioning needs a lot of work. As does his decision-making when he gets in attacking positions.

He never looked decent with Robinson besides him.

Robinson as far as defending was concerned was better, Anel was a far better footballer, but the bloke wasn't great at defending at all.
We were far better last season as a defensive unit than we are this. Souttar only played part of the season so it wasn’t all down to him.

Yeah he played the part of the season we were good lol.

Just never rated Anel as a defender. His quality was progressing with the ball which he was able to do with souttar /souza sitting in. Never could with Bobinson besides.

I always felt Anel was a bit powderpuff tbh. He reminded me a lot of Berge. Played well when the going is good but shrinks under pressure. He also can't be trusted as the dominant CB in a back four.

Hypothetical question but if Tanganga was just on loan to us this season, along with Bindon. Then you had to purchase one in the summer, would you choose to pay 7 million for Tanganga or 3 million for Bindon?

But he did play for Spurs for a while (Jesus)

It was immediately obvious from literally the first few seconds he was on the pitch how much of a difference Riedewald makes to the team.

Straight away he sat in between Tanganga and Bindon (when we had the ball) and they went wider, Jairo then played what seemed to be 15 passes with a teammate and we looked as a team just way better.

Appreciate this is a thread about Tanaganga, but thought it worth mentioning, if only to agree with the point youve made.

I agree. Not a bad player at this level, but underwhelming given what we paid for him and what we were expecting. Anel and Robinson, both performed better last season. Millwall have not missed him either. I think he is good in recovery and one on one, but will need a strong all round partner next year. Tbh, we have shipped less goals when Mee has played this year, even is he struggled at times.
What did we pay for him?….very ordinary and his behaviour against Coventry was so unprofessional….captain…don’t make me laugh
