That's the first time I've ever come out of Bramall Lane angry and wanting a refund. It was without question the worst performance I have ever seen from us. I hope every single one of them went home as gutted as I was.

Jamie Murphy and Matt Done worked their socks off, making runs, tearing around, running at people when they had it - they're excused. Every single one of them after that was absymal in my opinion. I couldn't believe it was the same team (more or less) that drew with Spurs.

To everyone apart from Murphy, Done and Brayford: "This is the best club you're likely to play for in your career. It's a privilege to be in front of so many fans and earning such good money. Fucking act like it. Take a look at Murphy and Done and remember - the only way from SUFC for you is downwards."

Brayford: "You can do better than us, but you can also do better than that. That wasn't good enough and you should know better."

To the whole squad (after the match): "Get yourselves into that training ground at 9am tomorrow and start running laps. I'll be there at 10am and I'll be expecting some answers. If I don't get them, start running again and I'll be back at 11 and so on until someone explains why that wasn't good enough. Anyone who doesn't fancy it won't be getting picked next week."

Rant over. Thanks for listening :)

I agree with most of that in general and well put, what i will add is that personally it isn't the first time iv'e walked out and felt like that and it propably won't be the last. You must have the patience of a saint mate for that to be the first time you've felt like that:)

Because of my age I've lost count the number of times I have come out of BDTBL angry and wanting a refund - It's part of being a blade
Saturday wasn't the worst performance I have ever seen from the Blades I've seen dozens of 'performances' that don't even come close to Saturdays heights !
I totally agree that on Saturday the players lacked the bottle, nous and heart to win the game - Fleetwood had done their homework and knew exactly what they had to do - the United players didn't have the nous, heart or desire to change it
Perhaps they think they are too good for this league, I am not sure but they need to man up fast if promotion is to be achieved or as you say, for the majority of the team there is only one way their careers are going..................................

It is one thing to realize that the players tried and were beat/outdone by better tactics/play or whatever. It is unacceptable for the vast majority to come away from a game, knowing and feeling that the players didn't put anything like their full effort into the game.

Have to agree it was poor fare. It didn't even feel disappointing or unjust we were that lacking in, well, everything. The new guy showed some good touches but .... I was at the back of the kop and when their guy(s) shot you just knew it was going in.

If the team is knackered after playing 8 games in Feb then Clough needs to put second choice players in and give Murphy a break, or bring him on as sub as he did t'other week (Swindon)

Players only feel tired , when they know things are not going well , or they are injured . When things are going well players want to play , never feel tired , and adrenaline gets them through.

We can counter and hurt teams - we have the pace if we are the one's soaking up the pressure and get our sens organised.
That's why we do better against the better opposition - the one's that bring the game to us, because they leave space in behind, which we can exploit.

What we cannot do is break teams down that keep their shape and set up to repel our weak and slow build up. There are so many examples so far this season it's too obvious for words.

We have very little quality to unpick teams with a killer ball or to stretch teams so that gaps appear since we are attempting to play a game similar to what the likes of Chelsea play but with mediocre players. If you look at Chelsea when they are pressing they play with a striker on the edge of the box, back to goal, and midfielders threading the ball into feet and getting beyond and into the penalty area. The striker holds the ball up and plays it back to another midfileder who then plays in the runner or the striker turns and feeds the ball through to the runner. We don't do any of that - it just goes wide and back and back and wide and then the cross, when it comes, is more about frustration and panic as opposed to any quality delivery - the fact that we have nothing other than Done to aim at is another factor. Done is doing his job and the rest, bar Murph, are pretty dismal.

Preston can play the football game and they can bully the opposition - they are far more multi-dimensional in their play than we are and they can adapt to suit the opposition. NC sets us up in the same way every game and doesn't take into consideration the nature of the opposition - what will beat Bristol 1-3 on their own patch will not do the same for a Crawley fighting for their league 1 status or a Fleetwood with fuck all to lose at Bramall Lane - basking in the experience. Too many similar midfield players with very little strength or height is not a recipe for getting out of this league (except through the trap door).

Various games have been as bad, Scunny at home for Robson's last game was appalling for example.

Know what you mean though...

I'm not sure I agree with the "we have seen much worse" argument. The fact is that this is one of the worst seasons in the club's history. I don't have the stats to hand but there can't be many when we have lost so many matches at this level (last season, the season we went down to the 4th and one or two others). And the quality of football for the most part has been abysmal.

I'm sure we will bounce back. I just hope it is sooner rather than later.

If that's the case kenilworth, and I agree with you, why the f@@k does he keep swapping the team about. If your going to play the same style every week, and every week you haven't got a plan 'B' play the same 11, injuries and suspensions permitting. Gets my goat up, this fact alone.

Jonboy , because like us , i don't think he knows his best starting 11 , and feels he can interchange players ,like they are clones , subutio players in a set rigid system.

Absolutely. How often do you see a striker on for a hat trick huffing and puffing looking longingly at the management?

Have we ever spent this long before out of the top 2 tiers I can' t remember ? I seem to think we spent 2 or 3 seasons in the 3rd tier in the 1970's went to the 4th for one season 1980 then we had back to back promotions ?

Could be wrong.

Nothing will ever be as bad as Wallsall (I hope)

Oldham 0-5. Ugh. What a day.

Yep. Hurt a lot more then, as I was young and daft. Remember two things about that day - Andy Leaning conceding a header from outside the bloody penalty area, and being so angry I walked round to Billy McEwan's house that evening and spat on his car.

You are :-)

Until 1978 we had never finished below half way in the 2nd tier. We finished 12th in D2 that year and were relegated the following year. We then spent 5 seasons in the lower two tiers before promotion back to D2 in 1984, We went back down again in 1988 and went straight back up in 1989 and up again in 1990. We stayed out of D3 after that until 2011.

So if we don;t go up this season, we will equal that 5 year lower tiers spell of 1979-84.

Out of the Sheffield clubs, Wendy have the longest spell away from the top tier!

Oldham 0-5. Ugh. What a day.

'It's always darkest before dawn.' McEwan (another in our endless repetoire of shite managers) was sacked after this game and in came...Dave Bassett.

This is what it's come to - comparing the current set-up with the worst in memory. I realise that there are some who still say 'Stick with Clough', 'Who else would we get?' etc. Only when NC has gone will we be able to sit back/feel comfortable and chronicle the lengthening list of incredibly bad or inexplicable decisions he's made.

It won't be pretty.

Think I mentioned that a bit back :-)

Their 15 years as from 2000 now beats our 14 years from 1976-90 and their 14 years from 1970-84. the next longest spell is our 12 years from 1994-2006.
