Take the fa cup seriously

Very poor from wilder today, disrespectful to the opposition and we got what we deserved.

Practice in knock out games in the fa cup might serve us well in the playoffs that we seem to bottle every bloody time

We put out a strong side and made subs to try and win it. Nothing wrong with the management from what I saw..

Not even the fans are that bothered about the FA cup. Let's be honest most of us would have preferred a league fixture today.

It's same with international breaks. They all just get in the way of the league.

The defence and keeper selection was league 1 standard ... Play your best players , take it seriously, we're not bloody man city
How do you work that out? They are two of our 4 first choice centre backs - granted only League One standard but that's not putting out a weakened team. And no matter what you might think about Adam Davies, there was no way he was to blame for any of the goals today.

We put out a team with a lot of rusty players in it. I think it might have been on purpose. Really enjoyed the game though from the poolside in the Canaries - maybe different if I'd turned up.

McGuinness and Mee were poor at the back and were always going to be.

Campbell couldn't be arsed (again), Ings isn't up to contributing anything it seems.

Chong. Jesus Christ. Where to begin.

And Adam Davies will always give a comedic performance at being a goalkeeper.

The rest were middling, but that's over half your team being massively under par.

Too many changes today …could have started with a stronger side & changed it later more so after the Oxford postponement.
That said there’s was more than enough quality on the pitch to beat them but the defending on their last 2 goals was terrible.
Mee & McGuiness as a partnership ..No No No

Players returning from injury, clearly nowhere near fully fit is putting out a weakened team, he sees them in training and must know their fitness levels. Mee got ran around like a school kid all game, and that new loan right back may as well just go back now

Davies got beat from 25 yards with a weak floated shot and left half the goal open for the 4th

🎯…Could agree more my friend with your analysis

Give back up players a chance but not 10 all.at once..
Some cracking goals from Mansfield but they were given freedom to roam at will
.start with 5 or 6 of who's been doing well and we can win it ...trying to salvage 1-4 down is a bridge too far

Let's hope this malaise ridden performance doesn't sour our league momentum

Agree Mee was particularly poor .their winger tore him a new one

Team has more than enough quality just didn't show it.

They did score two stunners at key times in first half. But who was closing reed down at all?

3 and 4th goals give ball away cheaply and get caught on the break with our entire back 6 flat footed.

Will say it though. Bamford in box at 3-4. Looked like a pen to me.

Really wouldn't surprise me if the gameplan re: that was "never good enough for us so just ignore him as he must be shit"

I think we did but the choice of both Mee and McGuinness was a poor idea.

Needed Bindon in for either of them.

I’ve said it on other threads, I’d much rather see us win a cup than do anything in the league. Getting promoted leads to disappointment, we may as well have a cup in the cabinet.

Imagine we got through to the 5th round and lost to middling premier league side eventually but knackered our players. What's the point of that?

Used some fringe but regularly used players and rested a couple who had niggles.

Thing is we are more likely to win a cup as a PL outfit as our overall squad quality would be higher. So it's kinda a catch 22.

Go up and stay up and treat a cup really seriously. That first season up under Wilder without COVID id have fancied us against Arsenal at home with a crowd. I mean it was a last min goal that stopped us then.
In semi final then and who knows.

Shame under hecky we got man city and not even say man utd.

You joking?

I saw the XI and A. Davies a side, that's a solid championship lineup.
It might be a championship line-up, but if it was playing every week, it would be near the bottom of the championship. If we took out Bamford, Brooks, O’Hare, Tanganga, McCallum, Seriki, Cooper, Reidwald from the squad, where would we be in the championship? That starting line-up was a bottom end championship side, and Mansfield are a reasonable League 1 side (not National League, or League 2). I’d say we should be beating teams from the league below us if we play our strongest 11: if we don’t pick our best players, it becomes a fairly even contest, and the idea that we should easily win no longer holds. If you put that starting 11 - with its recent injuries, ageing legs, poor form, lack of game-time together, and areas of low quality - in league 1 week-in week-out, it wouldn’t win the title. So I wasn’t surprised they edged it.
