It's been one game, granted a very bad one. The team turned up full of positivity and belief but the opposition had their pants down. It happens.

What the manager and his staff need to do is address the obvious problems which would have become more apparent in a competitive fixture. The supporters simply have to let it go and hope for better next time out.

There's no sugar coating a shocking display but let's not write the season off just yet. There's enough talent in that team to build on. They will have better days and better team mates joining. Have faith.

Well having read the two above posts from Pat and JD, I'd like to follow in your path chaps. Disappointing doesn't even begin to describe how I felt when I returned home at 7.30. Perhaps in my delight at the pre-season build-up I'd half expected at least a well earnt point today. I didn't have the chance to follow the game, and it was only when the laptop went on did I realise that we'd been stuffed!

Yes, it's early, far too early, so I suspended my prejudices and understand why a new manager needs time. How long exactly? No idea, and who knows, in 5 or 6 games time maybe we'll all be singing a very different song. But there's no escaping, today was bollocks....with an extra serving of bollocks just to round things off. I'm not one to become hysterical about poor performances, and I hope today acts like a wake up call to Adkins. As useful as pre-season can be, the business really started today, not against Matlock or whoever played us recently. A lot has been made of certain players, young and old, and their potential. Key word that, potential. It only ever means something if it's realised, if not then it remains a case of what might be.....but we'll see. I hope the players show some guts and pride, at least they're paid well, but those supporters who forked out decent money to watch United today won't be interested in how the players feel, all any of us want is to see a team of players who know how to play and how to win. Today it seems they were clueless, spineless, and most disappointingly, without an idea how to get hold of this game.

Oh dear.

In the post match interview Adkins pretty much says they were trying to get a defensive signing over the line before the game.

Let's hope he hasn't been put off.

On to the next one!

Adkins post match interview totally honest, not good enough, crap defending, great support.Think he can do a job, needs a clear out this squad is ok in pre season friendliest but against the big boys (Gillingham for Christ sake)found wanting.Another season of discontent, but we've won The Ashes, The Tykes are going to romp the County Championship and Joe Root is the best batter in the world. Why oh why can't the bloody football season start in September and allow us long suffering Blades a decent summer break.
